Summary

Former IRS human resources chief Traci DiMartini is fighting back after being fired for allegedly telling employees that agency firings came from DOGE-controlled Office of Personnel Management and refusing to call staff into weekend work during tax season.

Placed on leave Monday for "ineffective management" and "insubordination," DiMartini, a 21-year government veteran with no prior disciplinary issues, claims DOGE is attempting to "politicize human capital" by hiring only loyalists while ignoring civil service protections.

"They have no idea who they picked a f—king fight with," she stated, vowing to challenge her dismissal despite not planning to return to federal employment.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 32 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Of all the people to pick a fight with, a long term IRS worker is the worst they could have picked.

I guess their rich egos don't know that (to normal people) the only two certainties are death and taxes.

I’m married to a woman that retired from the IRS (bank secrecy act). I know better than to pick a fight with a woman from the IRS! 🤣

[–] runjun@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

Fuck yes, Traci!

[–] Neverclear@lemmy.dbzer0.com 118 points 11 months ago

Pissing off HR is such a colossally self-defeating move in almost every possible context. I actually really hate that's the case, but boy is it welcome here, these folks are really stepping in some shit. HR lead in the first place, and of the fucking IRS? I'd literally take my chances sharing lunch with a bear over inflaming that individual so badly.

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 35 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And she sounds pissed.

"They have no idea who they picked a f—king fight with,"

[–] Benjaben@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

That's the other thing, those people don't usually talk like that 😬 she's going nuclear lol

[–] jve@lemmy.world 42 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Man, you know shit is bad when the head of the IRS looks like a hero.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 31 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I mean, the head of the IRS absolutely could be a hero. Fighting billionaire tax fraud would be heroic for example. They were definitely starting that up again, until the corrupt executive coup started.

This was the head of HR though.

[–] jve@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

This was the head of HR though

Mm I did miss that.

That said, HR is generally no friend of the people

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yes, it's first line of the article/summary.

[–] jve@lemmy.world -1 points 11 months ago

Yes, ripcord, I see that now. Thanks for tagging on here.

So everyone bitches about taxes but think about the Republican campaign against it for years.

Any attempts to simplify taxes has been fought to keep companies like TurboTax and H&R Block profitable, while every chance the Republicans decry any taxes whatsoever so keeps the min wage people against taxes.

But the thing is IRS defunding typically goes after the sections of the IRS that investigates tax fraud from the billionaires and businesses that try to wiggle out after all the tax cuts they've worked through, they've managed to demonize a portion of the government that's supposed to be funding the government and goes after the wealthy that don't pay their fair share.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 6 points 11 months ago

The IRS is one of the most profitable agencies in government. So why do you think they want to downsize it?

[–] GiantChickDicks@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 months ago

Oh my gosh, she looks so nice! I think it's about time for those of us they'd never expect to stand up and start burning it all down.

[–] LuxSpark@lemmy.cafe 30 points 11 months ago

Oh, I hope nobody gets ghaddafied.

[–] krelvar@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago
[–] altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 11 months ago

So the grim ripper of taxes everyone is afraid to talk about is the one to finally call it out. I hope she and her office workers are safe. I want her to tear this fucker into pieces.

[–] GissaMittJobb@lemmy.ml 24 points 11 months ago

Fuck him up

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

USE YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS ON THIS ILLEGAL ALIEN ALREADY, DIPSHIT DIMARTINI.

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Seriously. It's in black and white. We have a right to kill musk and Trump

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

If people don't use their second amendment rights to remove a tyrant, it disproves the concept and there's no reason to have the amendment.

Anyone who believes the second amendment is good law has a duty to follow through on proving it.

[–] HidingUnderHats@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

Yeeeessss. You don't fuck with HR.

[–] cultsuperstar@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

What would be really awesome is if she gave free advice to the working class on loopholes and stuff on how to pay the least amount of taxes.

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world -2 points 11 months ago

Yeah doubt thag anything will come of this unfortunately.
