So I'm fine with pretty much any NSFW post and don't want to hide them generally from my feed, but I really don't want the OF/attention-whore posts. Is there a way to keep these from showing up on my feed? Apologies if this is something easy or generally known, but I'm a pretty newbie.

Not really, no. You can block communities that allow those types of posts, however.

Edit: I say this because I'm making a couple of assumptions here. Mainly that you're not talking about direct links to onlyfans, but rather the people who post pictures of themselves to tangentially related communities trying to lure people into clicking on their profile where they have a link to their onlyfans. You can certainly block individual users so that might be good enough. As for blocking links to specific domains I don't think that's supported on the web client (it would a nice feature) but it might be available in some of the apps.

Android: Connect and Voyager allow filtering by URL

If the OF posts are always certain users, you can block those users. You'll slowly see less and less.

Are you browsing All?

Subscribe to some communities, then use Home instead of All

Where are you seeing these sorts of posts? I thought most instance banned them because they’re spam magnets.

I'm on .world and typically see them when I view All. I use Voyager.

There are filtered keywords and filtered websites options on Voyager, would try playing with those.

What communities/instances are these from?

[–] solrize@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

They are from lemmynsfw.com which in practice is mostly only fans. I haven't figured out how to block the instance.

[–] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I guess world federates with porn instances.

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

But not piracy instances. Weird.

[–] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 year ago

Some apps allow filters and you can block only fans or whatever. I am unsure which apps have this however.

Like 80% of the posts on NSFW communities are just OF attention posts so you might as well just unsubscribe from them now lol.

Instance block lemmynsfw. Nearly all nsfw content come from there and you won’t see those

Scroll past them Ignore them

You don't mind seeing naked titties if they're from some random model stolen online? But lord, the horror if a girl a tries to make a living from selling pictures and a fantasy without getting ripped off by big companies.

The brainpower some lemmings expend on absolutely trivial things always keeps boggling my mind tbh.
