Community Revival

This community is for discussion of dead communities and the planning of reviving them.

What should a post/comment look like?

A post ideally would be mentioning that community, what value it could contribute to the fediverse, how much dedication it would take and approximately how many mods there should be, and a call for volunteers.

A comment should be a suggestion, correction or volunteering.

What is a dead community?

A community which all mods are inactive for more than 3 months, and the modlog has had no activity for the same time.

Please ping all the admins in the comments too, this is necessary.

Rules

The rules are very simple.

  1. All posts must be about a dead community. Meta posts should be marked [META]
  2. Be nice.

... i will work on the icon/banner later ;)

MODERATORS

If someone's looking for a community to mod, there's the Miniworlds community on lemm.ee. I've posted some stuff there everytime I found something, but I think it also needs mods ๐Ÿ˜

You may check out r/miniworlds back on the spez site to see what this is all about.

Seems like a niche topic, maybe redirect to [email protected] ?

@Blaze gardening is more general, idk. This is more specific indeed.

There's only so much of a niche we can support with the current Lemmy userbase unfortunately.

The general recommendation to keep active communities is to go for more generic ones while we don't have the population to support niche topics.

@Blaze This is one of these niche communities that cannot be covered by a general community like the gardening one (alone), sorry. Check out these examples: 1, 2, 3.

I don't mind posting stuff myself fwiw, and I actually pretty much am, as the only poster, lol. I just wanted to make sure it is actually modded and since I found this community, I thought this announcement would be relevant for anyone looking for a place to mod ๐Ÿ˜

I'll message the instance admin too tho. Thank you all!

Inactive mods:
  • None?ยฟ?!, I didn't know you could have no moderators

Anyway, In case anyone wants it, you'll probably need to reach out to the Administators of the instance. If you just want to post or be around the place, there you have it, thanks petrescatraian for posting it!

I didnโ€™t know you could have no moderators

You can if the only mod deletes their account

@shaytan yeah, I'm on Friendica so I cannot be a mod of a Lemmy community, sadly. I just wanted to let people know if they are interested in modding a community themselves (and a fairly niche one).
