Maybe blur is just another benefit of cable-stayed bridges

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 24 points 10 months ago

No, cable stayed bridges would never betray me like that.

Can I port my subscription list from newpipe to pipepioe?

[–] Eeyore_Syndrome@sh.itjust.works 15 points 10 months ago

And settings as well. Yes.

Yes. PipePipe is a fork of NewPipe.

[–] NONE_dc@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Pipepipe is great! Works really good so far.

Practical Engineering is also on Nebula (among other some high quality YouTube channels), and tou can get an ad-free yearly sub for around $30. Not giving my views or af-money to Google.

[–] ElPussyKangaroo@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago (2 children)

The fact that you knew the channel based on the subtitles is incredible 😂

[–] TheFriendlyDickhead@lemm.ee 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

To be fair the topic is very specific. There are not that many big channels that talk about engeneering, esspecially bridge engeneering. At least not that I know of.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 7 points 10 months ago

There is "Real Civil Engineer", but he's actually an architect

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

How many people talk about cable stray bridges on YouTube

[–] codapine@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I was thinking Tom Scott or Auto Shenanigans

Plus the money actually goes directly to the creators you watch.

[–] bleistift2@sopuli.xyz 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

If you’re considering Nebula, I’d, personally, go for the lifetime subscription. It’s the better deal after 5 years.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 10 months ago

10 years in my case. I'm grandfathered into a 30$ sub

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 2 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Better deal after 5 years, if they still exist and honor the lifetime subscription by the time 5 years have passed

if you want an app, revanced is good. it has the same UI of the normal YouTube app (minus whatever you don't want, like ads or shorts or news etc, it's one of the most customizable ones I've seen) and besides adblocking has sponsorblock and return dislike and stuff built in (optional ofc) you can still use new pipe for downloads when you press the in-app download button and I like that feature a lot.

my other suggestion is Firefox + ublock origin. can never go wrong with the classics haha

edit: revanced.app is the official site

If on ios, Unwatched is my holy grail

Tried it recently.. That shit ain't gonna last. Too good to be true haha

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

We said that about (re)vanced

Try Revanced manager. Or Tubular. Or FreeTube. Or Grayjay...... There are so many. Even for android tv. There is YouTube next

[–] chicken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

FreeTube is currently broken, maybe for the same reason OP is having problems, YouTube changed something on their end. Although supposedly the fix is coming through shortly. Shoutouts to the maintainers doing all this work.

Have you tried changing your DNS to one of these:

  • 194.242.2.4#base.dns.mullvad.net
  • 76.76.2.2#https://freedns.controld.com/p2

https://mullvad.net/en/help/dns-over-https-and-dns-over-tls

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 4 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I think YouTube was having issues. Try using NewPIpe again.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's not working yet, but Firefox with ad block is

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)

That's odd since it works for me

Are you using the Newpipe F-droid repo?

[–] RageAgainstTheRich@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I am having the same issue. It hasn't worked at all lately and 9/10 videos tell me to open it in the browser.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Have tried hitting retry repeatedly?

On iOS, I use the website with Safari with 1blocker to block the ads. Works well.

[–] ohellidk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

I had to look around for it, but newpipe po-token version is still working for me. It uses some different method of fetching the video, but with the same interface.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 months ago

I keep a copy of one of each of the methods on my phone. Grayjay, new pipe Brave, Firefox+UB and a revanced copy of YouTube.
