Summary

IRS worker Robert McCabe, a Trump voter, expressed shock after being among 7,000 laid off by DOGE, an initiative under the Trump administration led by Elon Musk.

McCabe stated DOGE is acting like a “wrecking ball and destroying people’s lives for no reason.”

The layoffs, targeting probationary employees with less than a year of service, affect hundreds at the IRS and are part of a broader effort to shrink the federal workforce.

The cuts raise concerns about impacts on tax collection during a critical season.

Reading between the lines, ol' Bob here seems to think that only MAGA are people. Destroying the libs' lives is perfectly fine.

That's what they all think. They're violent, hateful, and disgusting people. I'm wondering how long before Nazi hat wearing motherfuckers start getting attacked in public as a matter of self defense.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/trump-voter-hes-not-hurting-the-people-he-needs-be-hurting-msna1181316

A few miles away, another prison employee, Crystal Minton, accompanied her fiancé to a friend's house to help clear the remnants of a metal roof mangled by the hurricane. Ms. Minton, a 38-year-old secretary, said she had obtained permission from the warden to put off her Mississippi duty until early February because she is a single mother caring for disabled parents. Her fiancé plans to take vacation days to look after Ms. Minton's 7-year-old twins once she has to go to work. The shutdown on top of the hurricane has caused Ms. Minton to rethink a lot of things."I voted for him, and he's the one who's doing this," she said of Mr. Trump. "I thought he was going to do good things. He's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting."

Crystal Minton, who inadvertently became the ideological core of the MAGA movement. She said the quiet part out loud.

I like what the left wants is universal healthcare, a social safety net, housing for everyone, just stuff where we’d love it if everybody had access to it. The only people who need to be “hurt” are the straight-up actual criminals who seem to otherwise dodge every consequence and those people are extremely rich assholes who have a lot of power and use it all for pure evil and none of them are regular people.

But then the right comes along and it’s always “how can we bring the most cruel, crude punishment to this margainalized group of poor people?” and it’s just, like…fucking really?

Imagine working with the IRS, voting with the party that has said for years they want to defund the IRS, and then being surprised when that party attacks the IRS. I don’t fucking understand these people at all. They truly live a life devoid of reality. They are incapable of considering real world consequences.

Truly to be a conservative is to lack imagination.

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 31 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Just like anyone in a union that voted for Trump, or any woman. I don't know what they expected.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago (9 children)

Imagination, empathy, intelligence, a soul, basic communication skills, and any level of emotional maturity.

They believe they are special. My job is important so it wont get cut. My abortion was just because it could have caused health problems for me. I deserved unemployment/medicaid because i paid into it.

It is not imagination but empathy they lack until it effects their lives.

[–] PlantDadManGuy@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

And any type of reason, critical thinking, compassion, empathy, or most other basic human emotions.

Wait, so when it was destroying other people's lives, that was fine, but now that it's your life, you wanna be a bitch?

Let me help you here dear trump voter... Fuck you, you deserve it.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 49 points 11 months ago

When he said he was coming for everybody but you thought he'd make an exception for you.

[–] __nobodynowhere@sh.itjust.works 43 points 11 months ago

You were only supposed to destroy other people's lives!

In other news, Trump voter finally understands Homer's catchphrase "D'oh!" after 38 years.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 29 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Odds are extremely low that he learned anything. He probably thinks he was being informative about them not harming the right people.

My face! The leopards! The goggles! They do nothing!

[–] Jericho_One@lemmy.world 33 points 11 months ago

"I didn't think the leopards were going to eat MY face" - says the person that voted for the Leopards Eating Faces party

[–] Veedem@lemmy.world 33 points 11 months ago

The IRS, particularly, was spoken about as a clear target well before Election Day. The GOP make it clear they want to kill the revenue generating service because they’re actually terrible business people.

This guy is an idiot if he didn’t think he could be impacted, too.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 33 points 11 months ago

Realization is not enough. If you voted for Trump you need to actively work to undo the damage you caused. This isn't a forgive and forget situation.

[–] Cornpop@lemmy.world 25 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Oh look! It’s your cake and now you can eat it too!

[–] Tramort@programming.dev 11 points 11 months ago

You won. Now deal with it.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I guess this is the only way to break the spell on these people, one at a time?

Have them lose their job and be miserable thanks to Republican policies?

Also: I have just no idea how you could be working for the government and voting Republican. The Republicans have been for saying, for years, that they want to destroy government.

[–] ThomasCrappersGhost@feddit.uk 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Trouble is they will only realise when they are effected.

Equally, I am confused by Brits that work for the NHS and vote Conservative.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Same propaganda works everywhere.

The middle class is deteriorating, pay * isn't increasing in sync with inflation, less kids, less money in taxes.

The rich aren't rich in a vacuum, as the * Rich get richer the rest get poorer. It's pretty easy to target them to hate down one social level.

As far as NHS, well if you're not overly sick you're paying too much and most people aren't overly sick. People who are struggling really get behind the "fuck you I got mine" train when instead they could be on the help me too train.

Reap what you sow- MAGA

[–] Kalysta@lemm.ee 18 points 11 months ago

FAFO.

I have zero sympathy for this chucklefuck. I voted to save democracy. I just hope they hurt more than I do for their shit choice.

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So anyways, I think we need to come together on a Leopard's Obesity Awareness program. Nobody seems to be talking about just how fat those poor poor leopards are getting!!

He'll probably vote for him again next term, where Trump will win with 88% of the vote.

[–] Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I know they don't really care about laws or what's legal but this is his last 4 years unless they go full on mask off dictator. So far, he's doing a bang up job trying to position himself as such.

The Leopards Eating Faces party is a real thing, guys.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 11 points 11 months ago

[–] CriticalMiss@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Leopards will not go hungry for the next 4 years.

[–] drascus@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago
