This is especially hilarious when you know how hilariously inept the Nazi intelligence system worked. There was like five different agencies working on seven different cross purposes as each subunit tried to impress Hitler at the expense of the others.

British Intelligence led them around by the nose for most of the war. Operation Mincemeat being particularly fantastic. Nazi intel not only bought the whole ruse, but they also second guessed reliable info from then on. The British hogtied them up and slapped them in the ass on a daily basis. Some of the best real life competence porn you'll find.

The nazis in general were mostly incompetent idiots. The whole system was doomed to collapse sooner or later.

Is there a book you can recommend?

[–] Hyggyldy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Not who you replied to and I don't remember if they covered this specifically but the podcast Behind the Bastards has covered a lot of the workings of the Nazi party.

The Hitler episodes were hilariously informative! So we're the many many CIA involved episodes.

The Liberation trilogy by Rick Atkinson is also a really good in depth look at the war after 1942. Told mostly from the american perspective, but very very thorough.

And in a huge surprise comeback quadruple overtime game Russia wins the Cold War

This in close proximity with the US "negotiating" their way out of NATO is... No coincidence or accident. This is what the kremlin wants. The CIA are probably the last agency you want to piss off. They're leading experts in fucking around, and are generally very conservative (look at the governments they back, it's always some right-wing kleptarch). The CIA delivered us Trump, and now Trump is cutting them loose and thinks its going to go well for him.

But Putin thinks it's going to great.

I dunno he spent his first term shitting on them constantly and they put him back in?

He even went to their offices and insulted the agents lost in the line of duty and they were like "yay!".

I dunno. Maybe the brain scrambling equipment got out of hand or something.

Wasn’t it the FBI that gave us trump? If one were to believe the liberal narrative that comey fucked over Clinton?

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The CIA pumps out pro fascist propaganda abroad that then cycles its way back to us.

[–] inv3r5ion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh for sure, but that’s more roundabout. I thought this was a reference to the liberal cope about the intelligence agencies handing trump the election by announcing damaging things about Clinton just before the election.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

nah i was just saying we live in a media environment where propaganda is all there is and it slowly erodes any progress until the whole thing collapses

[–] inv3r5ion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

Definitely. Collapse is currently happening.

I’ve seen a lot of things coming for the past 25 years. But republicans getting rid of the CIA was definitely not on my bingo card.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My guess is Trump thinks they killed Kennedy and doesn’t want to risk it

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He's not getting rid of the agency.

He's getting rid of anyone that isn't personally loyal to him.

Felon Muskrat and Mike Pillow just don't want you to know where they get their goods...

Yeah, that crackhead dude that worships anything the orange turnip says. I hear he also goes by Mike Lindell..

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Okay I thought that's who you were referring to but I haven't thought about him in so long that I thought maybe you were referring to someone else

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I know, we haven't heard much from him in a while, but I'm sure he's still lurking behind the scenes, counting fake votes and stuffing more pillows with cocaine...

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah your thread starter got me wondering what happened to him. I remember he got some heat some silly ass shit (should have got it sooner) but I haven't seen anything about Trump pardoning him yet. Kinda makes you wonder what it is about Mikey Pillow that Trump doesn't need for his coup. Also makes you wonder how Mikey Pillow feels realizing he got used and that big orange daddy never really loved him

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Pillow ran out of money, obviously.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

He's on the lam because he can't afford to pay the guy who disproved his batshit claim, last I heard.

The ones who set up the Imperial Machinery, designed it and carefully groomed it, have accidentally created a "true believer" group of successors. The Empire is now overrun with people who actually believe the designers of Empire's words, without understanding how or why the Empire functions. Imperialism is eating itself.

I recognize Juan Guaidó as the director of the CIA

[–] Bonskreeskreeskree@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The CIA has the opportunity to do the most hilarious thing ever

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Release the alien sex tapes?

Yeah, trump is gonna want to purge the USIC after they ratted out all trump’s staff that were foreign agents and the whole trump dossier thing.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

They will happily take their bonuses and go right across the street to join private spy factories, white collar 'consulting' in media and tech, as well as all of the dark agencies spun off of the CIA after the Church committee and make their operating budgets selling drugs.
