It may be obvious to some, but this is a fake tweet and the only post today is some early bird pricing for a conference: https://xcancel.com/nvidia/with_replies

Other than the Nvidia stock price, the joke is that the contents of the tweet were something the Intel CEO did tweet after a similar stock plunge! https://xcancel.com/PGelsinger/status/1820129317122080977?lang=en

Just for the context, they lost 16% yesterday, which is one day after the prayer, which tells you about the efficacy of those

[–] TseseJuer@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

this is not a prayer. it's copy/paste of a verse

[–] Tillman@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

It’s a joke tweet making fun of the Intel CEO fwiw.

[–] imouto@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Thoughts and prayers I guess

I have to say it...

X is not a valid name for anything, and will never fit grammatically as a proper name. It doesn't matter how long somebody insists on using it.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yeah that's why it's a common variable name and it's partly because its a common variable name

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 13 points 10 months ago

it took til this comment to make me realize it wasn't "NVIDIA X" like that was a product

[–] nandeEbisu@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's a valid name for the chemical accidentally used by Prof Utonium to create the powerpuff girls.

[–] cadekat@pawb.social 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's "Chemical X" which is fine.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

It was originally a can of whoopass

So. That’s what chemical x is.

[–] TempermentalAnomaly@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Then explain "X, a Jesus". He did some cool miracles and shit.

Nvidia:

  • ✅ AI
  • ✅ Religious
  • 🚫 Red scanning visual sensors

Cylons:

  • ✅ AI
  • ✅ Religious
  • ✅ Red scanning visual sensors

They're only one step away, people, and I'm not even sure about the 🚫 on red scanning visual sensors.

[–] teft@lemmy.world 30 points 10 months ago (5 children)

Not all Cylons have the scanner. Some are sexy:

[–] shoulderoforion@fedia.io 9 points 10 months ago
[–] sga@lemmings.world 4 points 10 months ago (2 children)

i have no idea what cyclon or scanner is, but man sure is dope

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (2 children)

In Battlestar Galactica, humanity has fled earth after a hostile takeover by AI. On their last remaining ark fleeing to a habitable planet are Cylons, AI disguised as humans, some not even aware they ARE cylons. Fantastic show.

[–] jpreston2005@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

finally got around to finishing that, it was pretty good, my only beef was

spoilerwhatever the hell Starbuck was after she came back? Also, they introduced the concept of cylons 'casting' visions, but evidently that wasn't what Gaius was experiencing? then what was it? Seemed like they were pushing the idea of christianity in a freaking science fiction show, and it completely turned me off the last season.

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Better than the hyper-mormon ending to Ender's Game~

[–] DogWater@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wait did I miss something I read that like 10 years ago...

Also, I used to think the message board propaganda thing that the siblings did that radicalized more than half of the voters was far fetched and a little corny. Turns out that was the most realistic part.

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I mean books 3 (Xenocide) and 4 (Children of the Mind), as well as his The Memory of Earth series.

[–] DogWater@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Oh I only read the 1st book

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 10 months ago (2 children)

They should have stuck with the fan theory that Cylonism could spread like an STD rather than... Whatever the ending was.

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah another contender of 'fantastic show that produces an absurd ending that kind of ruins it'. But it was a wild ride the whole time, and I enjoyed it.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah. What was the deal with those flying motorcycles anyway?

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

A scanner is a machine that creates a digital version of a physical object, most commonly a piece of paper. But that's not important right now.

[–] TseseJuer@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

that would be a document scanner

[–] sga@lemmings.world 1 points 10 months ago

i know what paper scanners are, but yes, my question may imply that i want to know what a scanner is in general

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

He probably still has the spine scanner, we just never saw it because the BSG producers are cowards.

[–] Wogi@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

So say we all. Rawr

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

I thought that was Josh Gates at first.

nvidia twitter account*

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 23 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 19 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It’s fake, and a joke, but based on a real tweet the Intel CEO made when their stock crashed too.

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 months ago
[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 22 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Today we mourn, tomorrow we moon. Buy the dip at 11:59 PM.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

And then Trump implements tariffs on Taiwan and it craters again.

Nobody tell Elon Musk about ComStar because he'll use stuff like this to Kickstart Word of Blake

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wobbies are bad news, people. Everyone gets nuked or murdered by cyborgs.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 2 points 10 months ago

Can we at least get cool mechs? Or will reality continue being this shitty dystopia with nearly all of the bad and none of the cool?

[–] PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

bought the dip yesterday, i'm currently up 5.25% on Nvidia

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Based

And free market pilled

[–] Onionguy@lemm.ee 5 points 10 months ago

Is NVIDIA praying on the shitter?

[–] 200ok@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Get in line, Nvidia

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Nvidia is just describing the type of processing that GPUs do.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago
