My life without her music in it shall continue unabated.
News
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
Mine too. Although I think we're both being quite generous in our use of 'music' in her case.
"Comes out" is the wrong phrase here, having been used for so long to talk about historically repressed people, especially LGBTQ+, having the courage to live openly and honestly in spite of the injustice they may face.
You don't "come out" as a bigot. You don't "come out" as a fascist.
How about:
"Carrie Underwood goes Mask-Off as MAGA With Trump Inauguration Gig"
Or Hood-Off, as in Klansmen
Would "outs herself" be any better? I feel like we're splitting hairs.
I'm shocked (shocked!) that a country singer would stick with the fanbase that got her to where she is
Maaaaannnn, all these people in here are clowning on her for her shitty music. But "Before He Cheats" was my way to own my "Drunk Basic White Lady" status at Karaoke. Now I can't even be a stereotype anymore.
Jokes aside, fuck you Carrie Underwood. I was a fan in my youth and grew out of your music, but there was still two or three songs I got good nostalgia vibes from. Not anymore!
Ugh I hate when people I've supported turns out to be monsters.
I feel the same about Neil Gaiman ending up being a predator
Oof yeah. I'm so sorry about that.
I was never a Neil Gaiman girlie, not because of any vibes or anything, I was just reading other shit in my youth. But it was VERY clear from that thread that he was a very beloved author who touched a lot of lives. A LOT of people seem heartbroken about that.
Finding out those we look up to are awful incarnate is the worst feeling.
There's always Stevie Knicks.
You know what? I actually just saw her perform over the summer and she is still Queen status.
Better artist anyhow. You right!
Huh. I never would've thought that a country music artist would be the type. I'm shocked and surprised.
Well, not that shocked.
A modern country music artist, yeah. Waylon Jennings would have told Trump to go fuck himself.
She only cares if people cheat on her personally. Voting for a cheater, totally okay.
Maybe soon she'll come out as an artist, and yet we wait.
Washed-up has-beens and embracing the trumps.
Name a more geriatric duo
Who?
Always knew she fucking sucked. Not a surprise.
You know, I always preferred Faith Hill's version of the Sunday Night Football theme song. Now, I prefer it even more.
The rest of the world be like "who?"
Honestly, while I've heard her name, I had to google to find out what her songs were. I still don't think I've heard any of them. Half of them appear to be worship songs.
who has remained mum on her politics
What does "remained mum" mean?
remained private
Oh right - we'd normally say "kept schtum".
I was trying to work out what about her being a mum meant about her politics!
You might also see or hear "mum's the word" as a way to tell those other than yourself to keep quiet, but that's a bit archaic these days.
Wikipedia says:
Mum is a Middle English word meaning 'silent',[2] and may be derived from the mummer who acts without speaking.[3] Note the similar English word "mime" (Old English "mīma", Latin "mimus") meaning silent actor or imitator.
I guess it's a word that remained in use in the U.S. but fell out of favor in other parts of the English-speaking world.
Still in use in the UK too. See for example the title of the Rowan Atkinson film "Keeping Mum".
You might also see or hear “mum’s the word” as a way to tell those other than yourself to keep quiet, but that’s a bit archaic these days.
I've heard the expression a few times but never actually understood what it meant! But yeah it's never used in everyday language.
I don't know that I ever heard it said by anyone younger than the Boomer generation.
So whoever this Carrie Underwood is, she's to be known as a stupid cunt. Got it.
Nothing in this article suggests that she supports Trump.
You generally don't perform at the presidential inauguration of a president you don't support.
Because the all of it can't be inside of itself?
Just trying to find a way to make sense of this.
