Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

And in another bizarre turn, pundit Charlie Kirk railed against sign language interpreters during emergency briefings, calling them a “distraction” and “over the top.”

Proof that there is always more barrel to scrape.

Edit: wrong thread.

I responded to the wrong thread. Wrong ugly punchable cunt. I thought we were talking about Mel Gibson losing his home in the fire. Because they're both punchable cunts and Mel is not very pretty anymore.

That small-faced fuck is definitely one of the people who deserves the second controller.

Seems like a good place to put this:

No matter how low they already are, they always find new depths to sink to.

Kirk said that closed captioning was good enough. Live closed captioning is awful. Plus, you don't have to get a university degree to do closed captioning. You do to translate to ASL because it requires accuracy and that involves interpretation.

Plus, people in the room don't have the benefit of captions,.

[–] Ooops@feddit.org 10 points 1 year ago

"Why would they allow deaf people in the room? Isn't it enough that they can watch it on TV like normal people?"

I wonder if he's seen the emergency briefings in Houston where the County Judge follows up with the announcements in Spanish

I know this isn’t particularly novel or news to anyone here, but god, these people are so fucking stupid. Wind going 60-100 mph and they think a straight white man is going to put the fire out with his cock?? There’s video of one of the tanker planes trying to dump water on the fire and the wind is so strong it fucking floats there. What are you going to do against that?

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 20 points 1 year ago

Blame immigrants, duh. With their magical powers of being both useless and a grave threat, taking all the jobs and all the jobless benefits, a little water repelling/levitation/bending is nothing.

[–] odelik@lemmy.today 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Do you have a link to that video of the tanker dropping water? I haven't come across that and am having trouble finding it.

[–] thenetnetofthenet@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The fire fighting plane is the Canadair CL-415 (Super Scooper) -- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadair_CL-415

Thanks for this. However, this isnt the scenario described where the water “floated“. I'm imagining that the wind was so fierce that the water was disappated so fast it didnt make it to the ground in a significant manner.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It sounds insane. I'll try to find it too.

[–] notoftenthat@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

This isn't it, but we can imagine that the wind was a factor for this total miss...

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 year ago

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

Black and brown people live rent free in conservative heads.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

That’s why rent goes up so much every year.

[–] daellat@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago
