For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Pretty on brand for a 13 year old billionaire.

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 84 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How pathetic do you have to be, he is constantly searching for validation from people, and trying to steal others achievements, the dude has issues.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 44 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Idiot has more money than anyone on the planet and this is how he spends his time 🤡

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Late night ketamine runs require something to do.

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sopuli.xyz 38 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He is unable to git gud at literally anything.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Git adequate would be achievable with a lot of therapy and getting off drugs, but it lacks the same ring

[–] Evotech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Only git checkout

I love how so many people in the PoE2 community are trying to find a rational explanation for this behavior, like trying to determine what publicity faking being a high level gamer gives.

I'd argue this is the clearest evidence we've received that Elon has narcissistic personality disorder. These are the actions of someone who is suffering from a mental illness. He needs validation from his army of followers for the insane, grandiose claims that he makes, and doesn't feel the need to spend even a modicum of effort on making his lies seem believable.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 year ago

I think we had pretty clear evidence half a decade ago when Space Karen called a guy trying to rescue a trapped soccer team a pedo, just because his own stupid idea about a robot or whatever got rejected because it was so fucking dumb.

[–] Floey@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I knew one person who lied so compulsively that it was almost certainly some kind of personality disorder. They would lie about the most mundane things and lie when it would be obvious to everyone they were lying. Not saying Elon doesn't have NPD, but narcissism gets thrown around a lot and it could very well be some other thing or multiple other things accentuated by him being in a position of fame and power. It's got to be made worse by having so many true believers parroting your lies and doing the gymnastics for you.

My favorite example, that made me realize how much must illness like this sucks, was this hbomberguy video about Tommy Tallarico, the guy behind Video Games Live.

Access to industrial amounts of drugs doesn't help either. Everyone knows Musk consumes a ton.

[–] OmegaLemmy@discuss.online 2 points 1 year ago

Not every dip shit has NPD and having NPD doesn't necessarily make you a dip shit

I struggle with empathy and I rather not even be in a group if I'm not actively noticed, I end up doing shit negative or positive to bet attention because it just makes me feel good

I didn't use to feel this way but I unknowingly acted this way before I learnt I had NPD

For me it became a cycle of moving communities, making friends real or not, lying or showing off to become prominent then leaving or becoming harsh and unfriendly when I stagnate

[–] GissaMittJobb@lemmy.ml 29 points 1 year ago

That is just beyond pathetic, honestly.

[–] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 year ago

Checks out tho, he just buys stuff and takes credit his entire life.

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 27 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Of this is abput PoE2, account sharing is against TOS so when they ban his account it wilñ be glorious.

GGG is owned by tencent so it's not like Elon can buy the company lmao.

[–] griD@feddit.org 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"Elons Maps" is already memed 24/7 :'D

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Just level 52 too. I don't want a meme though want a ban.

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I hope you're right but I fear you underestimate his reach.

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

If he is seen in a public event while his account is gaming (easily trackable because anyone can add him to friends and then check where he is if he is online, if the account is changing zones while he is going a public speech...). Then users can report him and if GGG doesn't want to lose all their playerbase goodwill (they live through donations, so, bad idea) they will have to ban him.

Players in the subreddit are documenting a lot of proof that it's a Chinese player he is account sharing with.

That account sharing is bannable is not unknown, several streamers have had subathons this December and to help with the stream they asked family members to play instead, as a prwcautipn they asked GGG about this and GGG was pretty strict so family members created their own accounts and all. So, now they can't really backteack on it.

I've supported the game quite a lot in the past, if Elon isn't banned they can get ready to forget my future money forever.

I really don’t think he cheated. I think it’s much more companies that the developers and/or publishers themselves gave Elon Musk the boost. It’s usually what they try to do with influencers, and in the political world the people doing this even get a special name, "lobbyists".

[–] Evotech@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No, it's definitely a pain playing for him

His account is permanently online farming

Bro is literally the definition of an NPC.

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Doesn't he have shit to do like find government efficiencies?!? How does he have time to play Path of Exile?

[–] Bigfish@lemmynsfw.com 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

POE is a much better use of his time.

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Filling a void in the ground is a more ecologically friendly use of his time.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 year ago

What a fucking loser

[–] StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

I'm laughing at how he keeps dropping that he's playing at maximum difficulty. We get it Xelon, you're the best ~~that money can buy~~*.

If anything, Musk is an inspiration to all of us. It doesn't matter if you've demonstrably been a moron your entire life, you too can succeed with little more than a rich family with connections.

Where was he when I was trying to sell my WoW account for WAY more money than makes any sense?!

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I could've sold mine for a good chunk of change when I quit way back when, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I still renew now and then, spend a few days setting up addons and catching up on the game just to realise there's no way this fits my schedule anymore so cancel again.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, anything other than PvP is massively time consuming. I played to WOTLK then stopped, I came back briefly for Legion because Demon Hunters, but stopped when it got time consuming. I really don't think I could bother with it anymore.

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Shit, I have an inactive wow account with a character who got server first sulfuras before achievements existed in the game. How much do you think it could go for?

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

$0.05. Maybe less. I'm not a professional.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Old achievements aren't really gonna bring the value up they're only worth decent cash if the amount is maxed out on recent content/gear etc.

[–] fushuan@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Nono, you don't sell it to him, he creates it and pays you to play and prepare gear so when he logs he can play with baby gloves on.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago

Of all Elon musk problems, this is not one I care a single fuck about.

Sure, ita pathetic behavior typical for a narcissist, but then, so is all his behavior.

I'm much more pissed about all the real world harm he has caused already

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

next he'll want to be a top vtuber or something

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why would anyone actually want to play games with him?

[–] Good_morning@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 year ago

I mean if it was actually him I could see the fun in destroying him in a game like cod, apart from that he'd have to pay me

[–] b161@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Classic Elon.
