You'd be surprised. Most submarines shoot missiles straight up or torpedoes straight forward.

The angles aren't crazy, but you're right. It tends to knock shit off of tables and out of random lockers. They aren't gimbaled, but subs totally do have cupholders clipped onto everything possible.
