If they put and end to them now, the u.s/world economy will improve, he will take credit and the stupid ass voters will vote MAGA in again.

Carney would be a fool to try another trade deal with that fascist wreck of a country.

Don't worry, they haven't even removed the tarriffs from Trump 1 yet.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 6 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

That's nice, but it won't change anything for our boycotts, becasue the boycotts were never about the tariffs.

Fix your fascist problem, enforce the existing laws that those bastards have been ignoring and make it so they can't regain control, then we can talk.

That's no where near enough. If they rejoin the Commonwealth then we can talk.

I will believe that after Trump kicks it.

The Supreme Court had already rebuked him on this. However, the Republican Congress was too spineless to do their job and enforce it. Maybe the Democrats will, maybe the Democrats won't. I'm not placing any bets on it one way or the other.

America, I’m not placing any bets on it one way or the other.

By writing a letter in the strongest terms allowable under a spirit of bipartisan collaboration and a 150% boost to both thoughts and prayers?

Someone ban this person. They are threatening civil unrest. This is illegal!! So uncivil.

It's not their fault. They got that "TDS virus" from Auntie Fa.

"That's one of the reasons we won Congress back — because we're going to put an end to these tariffs," Raskin said.

"Congress controls taxes and tariffs under the Constitution. Congress regulates commerce internationally and domestically. And so we're gonna do everything in our power to make it very clear that we have not imposed 50 per cent tariffs on our democratic allies and friends in Canada."

Ahhh. Let’s hope it fails so we can keep not buying amerikkkan.

[–] TheSecondVariety@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't quite agree with that strategy, but I do think we need to keep buying less American and continue the somewhat cold shoulder for a long time. Lets not forget that this shit isn't new... here in BC we've been dealing with BS over softwood lumber for decades.

America needs to sit in a room alone for 50 years.

[–] TheSecondVariety@lemmy.ca 2 points 20 hours ago

I feel like that would create the version of America in Snow Crash.

My boycott was never about the tariffs. It was about the threats to Canadian sovereignty.

Sameee

I will continue to avoid US products & companies to the best of my ability for the remainder of my time on this planet.

They don't get to threaten my country & get away with it. They're dead to me.

Fewer tariffs on Canada! More beautiful tariffs on billionaires!

How do you kill that which has no life?
