I feel like that would create the version of America in Snow Crash.

I don't quite agree with that strategy, but I do think we need to keep buying less American and continue the somewhat cold shoulder for a long time. Lets not forget that this shit isn't new... here in BC we've been dealing with BS over softwood lumber for decades.
When it comes to misogyny or rasicsm you wouldn't tell someone to just try and do less of it.
Idk, these are very different things. If I think about how much I hate (some group) then I may be a racist based on that alone. If I don't consume animal products but I fantasize about eating a cheeseburger I would still be a vegan.
Nobody is going to literally say "just do less racism" but in practice we often only deal with small parts of someone's racism.
Sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes somewhere in the middle.
I think we need some clarity here. Most people think you're talking about the ice makers that are built into freezers and only a few of us think you're talking about ice makers that go on your counter as a standalone machine.
I'm not American so I'm not super well versed in American politics... but I didn't realize until reading your comment that there isnt really a chance at seeing sweeping changes as a result of this election.
As I said in another comment, it's a national company so we operate in several different time zones. The issue comes from the fact that Ontario and Quebec (I think) are still changing their clocks. Otherwise I'm sure they could just change the clock on whatever server is running these legacy systems.
It's also a mainframe system so we are all logging into one system.
Also also (and I didn't find this out until this shit show happened) our employees in Saskatchewan have already been dealing with work time vs town time for like... well forever it looks like. So maybe the system NEVER could adjust for DST and the only reason it worked was because someone is manually adjusting the clock on the server. Idk. I'm at a complete fucking loss as to why this is an issue now, let alone how this could have been an ongoing issue in Saskatchewan for DECADES without anyone figuring out how to deal with it.
Lol. I'm embarrassed that he's a Canadian.
They would have to figure out changing a bunch of location's time zones though and that *may* be beyond their capability. Also I don't know if the system has Yukon's time zone or not since we don't operate there.
Its starting to cause a whole ton of small issues and now some relatively minor pay issues due to this potentially allowing the company to dodge shift differential pay.
I would go into more detail on a lot of stuff but I don't want to name the company or anything.
The $70 billion project, backed by celebrity investor Kevin O’Leary
Of course it's the wonder valley project. I don't have time to read the full article just now but last I had heard it kind of sounded more like investor fraud than a legitimate project.
Edit: Here's a youtuber covering it. Also at about 5:03 he shows the promo video that Kevin O'Leary AI slopped... It's ridiculous.
I just assumed all female v-tubers were actually guys IRL. Is that just me?
It sounds like this person lives their everyday life as a man so I don't mean to come off anti trans when I say that, it's just that this is exactly what I would have expected. If they had transitioned IRL they'd probably be way less into the whole v-tuber thing.
I believe so, but this guy wants to go after everything else like getting trades to use it and make metric the default setting on electronics.
IDK if thats the best plan or if he realizes what an uphill battle certain things might be. Like ovens; our oven somehow switched over to metric on thanksgiving and it totally messed me up, I spent a LOT of time figuring out how to change that back to F. Another issue is industries that just aren't going to want to change: aviation, boats I think are imperial, railways are, home building, etc.
