Far-right senator and family land in US after crossing from Brazil into Argentina and then flying via Ecuador

A jet carrying the Brazilian far-right senator Flávio Bolsonaro has landed in Miami, Florida, where the losing candidate in Sunday’s presidential election runoff left the airport under police escort without speaking to the press.

The Gulfstream IV, registered as LV-JQW, left Guayaquil in Ecuador earlier in the day.

After losing Sunday’s election to the incumbent president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Bolsonaro disappeared for more than 24 hours, until Argentina’s migration authorities said he had entered the country by land on Tuesday night.

There, he boarded the Gulfstream IV. The aircraft had been parked at Puerto Iguazú airport since the early hours of the previous morning, when the first reports emerged in Argentinian media that he intended to flee on it.

How do the people who voted for him view this? Do they feel some sort of betrayal/abandonment? Or was there a risk if he stayed?

[–] DMCMNFIBFFF@lemmy.world 2 points 32 minutes ago

Lula should make fun of him fleeing to his American lord and master

Isn't that the same place the Taint Bros. coincidentally landed in at the start of Dump's 2nd term? You know, after being arrested in Romania for human trafficking...

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

I couldn't find where they landed initially, but they were both arrested in Florida where they are currently being held.

Has Trump declared him rightful president of Brazil yet?

[–] VinesNFluff@pawb.social 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Trump actually washed his hands off the situation saying he ain't getting involved.

F'course.

That's Trump, he's pretty mercurial. So he might change his mind.

I can hear it now: "That election was fixed."

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 30 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

On the bright side, losing the election has apparently done wonders for his looks 😄

He is a fugitive so he got plastic surgery to become unrecognizable, nothing to see here

Perhaps now that her latent dysphoria has been addressed Flavia may finally realize that happiness is found with your friends, not fascist assaults on democracy.

[–] Dagnet@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

True, guess I misgendered there

[–] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Florida seem like the hangout spot for the world's traitors. Strange that they put up with that

[–] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Florida has always sucked. The North Trump Ocean can't swallow it quickly enough. 20 years from now, it'll just be fake tits and fat MAGA fascists floating around their literally-underwater homes...all saying nobody expected this.

Nothing screams Nationalism like fleeing your nation

[–] Tja@programming.dev 6 points 5 hours ago

Ted cruz disaproves this message.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

I fled my nation (the US). I also have so much disdain for the country that has only caused me harm and trauma that I refuse to be labeled as such, I even switched to using the passport of my birth country (in part because the US won't let me renew)

So yeah, agreed

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 5 points 7 hours ago

A true patriot, working for the people of his country, not beholden to any foreign power. Oh wait...

Like father like son. Remember his imprisoned father going to Florida after losing in 2022?

Crime family asking for help from another crime family.

These republicans are another level of crooked.

[–] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 hours ago

Welcome to the kleptocracy.

if Trump were already president by then he would never have returned, so here's hoping the USA get an at least okay-ish leader soon

[–] Jubei_K_08@lemmy.world 52 points 10 hours ago

I thought we weren't letting criminal immigrants in? I mean his government is looking for him for some serious crimes. And we even made an extra official immune force to get rid of these dangerous people 🤔 How did this one have a hot off the press visa waiting for him in Florida? Someone must have stumbled with some paperwork somewhere. /s

[–] lazymoose@lemmy.world 34 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Florida literally harboring the worst criminals in the world for decades.

[–] kaitco@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

This is one of the least surprising Florida Man activities this year.

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 14 points 11 hours ago

[–] rain_enjoyer@sopuli.xyz 13 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

How many sons has he left?

Carlos, which has just been elected to Senate. Jair Renan has just been elected to Congress.

He also has a daughter that is still too young.

Remember that Michelle, his wife, has been elected to Senate too.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 8 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

One younger that isn't in politics and a daughter.

[–] demonsword@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 2 points 8 hours ago

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago
