Thanks to the internet, I can vicariously feel the joys (and pains and annoyances) of having pets.

Godamn I love when my cat takes interest in my food.

Usually, he just wants a smell.

Sometimes, he's coming in hot and will try to take some.

Usually it's covered in spices he can't have, but when it's not, he gets a little snack.

My cat used to love barbecue baked Lays, and absolutely no other human food. He liked to watch me cook, though, usually from his perch on top of the upper cabinets.

there's chicken in those, so that might explain it

there’s chicken in those

Wow, I didn't believe you, but I looked it up and you're right. They list "chicken" among the "natural flavors". Holy non-vegetarian, Batman!

To be fair I had never heard of a baked lay until now.

I'm beginning to feel left out. Also, should I be worried that in my head I spoke to my hypothetical cat in the cases you described?

Beware, pets are expensive.

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 1 points 4 days ago

Depends a lot on what it is. Brine shrimp barely cost anything at all.

This is outrageous! We need to address this obstruction of an official duty right meow!

Do people actually eat crisps during their meal?

I thought it was like a joke on British people because they eat "fish and chips"

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Yeah, especially with a sandwich. Nice to have a bit of crunch every now and then

[–] SpikedIguana@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Some people will even put them on the sandwich

Those of us who are familiar with the old magic

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

French fries. Milk shake. Let the ritual begin!

Do some people not? Crisps (aka potato chips) are a very common side with sandwiches in the US, most commonly at lunchtime.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 4 points 4 days ago

I was baffled to learn this, but then I decided to buy a bag of tortilla crisps and paired it with hummus and some veggies and I was sold. Quick and easy lunch.

[–] HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 1 points 4 days ago

I wouldn't call it very common, but its also not unheard of to have some.

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Do you mean there's places that don't?

[–] Honytawk@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 5 days ago

To me it is nothing more than a snack you eat on its own.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago

One hundred percent done in the Maritimes.

I've had many a good club sandwich with potato chips in many a fine pub.

[–] spacegoat@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Yes, chips and sandwiches are a ubiquitous combination.
