Enshittification
Welcome to Enshittification
A community for everyone who misspelt it as enshitification.
"I the onceler felt sad as I watched them all go, but business is business and business must grow, regardless of crummies in tummies you know."
This is your space to document the decay, demise, and destruction of the tech world as we know it. Share stories, articles, and firsthand experiences that capture the ongoing decline of once-celebrated platforms, services, and companies in the late stage capitalist landscape.
From monopolistic corporate shifts to anti-user updates and the relentless pursuit of profit over quality—if it’s broken, bloated, or just plain bad, it belongs here. We’re here to spotlight the moves that make the tech world worse, one piece of enshittification at a time.

Yup
Is that really for real? I'm so glad we got rid of that.
I disagree. I don't think that Paramount+ has been enshittified.
Because that would imply that it used to be good once.
Also, while it was never good for customers, it also hasn't enshittified on the production side yet.
In a couple of years^1^, when their library looks like an Amazon search result, with AI-generated films by studios with household names like UBOOPI or SUWEEMA at the top of every category, then the platform is fully enshittified.
^1^: barring the more likely scenario of the AI bubble already having popped.
I'm not sure the AI bubble popping will lead to lower NN usage... It will definitely lead to lower AI stock valuations and an economic crisis, though.
Critical data point right here.
Paramount+ sprang from the board room fully enshittified.
Have you tried sailing the high seas? no ads out there...
Even pirating media from Paramount isn’t worth it. The bigger the audience their media finds, the greater space it takes up in the cultural mindshare, regardless of whether or not it was paid for.
The only answer is to treat the media produced by fascists and their enablers as material as toxic as their politics. Nothing of value is here, what is here is dangerous and repulsive to us, it is best left shunned and undisturbed, etc.
There is no shortage of independent creators making terrific work who are starving for an audience.
YouTube changed their app to double dip ads too. Previously I could connect to my TV, then play a video on it. Now I have to start the video on my phone, which plays ads, then connect to the Tv, which plays more ads before the video. Advertisers will never be satisfied.
I use YouPlay. So no ads on YouTube for me. In fact, I have YouTube blocked on all my devices.
I use SmartTube on my Onn 4K box, and Wizestream on my phone and tablet.
And look, given who owns Paramount+, they can just get fucked all around.
They're never getting a penny from me.
Thankfully my jellyfin server has no ads.
I would have cancelled after the first ads. You're paying them and can't even browse the catalog without ads?
Can't trust anyone ever. TV used to be "Free" but you had to endure some ads. I found a VHS recording of Kqrate Kid a few years ago and it had really short ads. They started to cram more and more ads in. What if we play shows at 1.3 times the speed and cut some shit out? One more ad. I think at that point i'm just too autistic to watch ads. My sister always says that she doesn't mind, she just records everything and skips the ads. Now, with some blockbusters, apparently you can't do that anymore, so she's just back to ads. I don't think i have seen a TV ad in 15 years at my place. Now you pay for streaming AND watch ads. It's insanity to me. I just couldn't, i'd rather not watch something anymore tbh.
they have absolutely no problem charging you money and forcing you to watch bullshit ads, but you just can't live with yourself if you obtained the show without paying them
lol
sorry for your luck? i can't even remember the last time i even saw an ad, and i feel fucking great about it
I'm amazed at how advertising has infiltrated tech like a cancer. Fuck "Tide" and others and their subsidizing of the tech bros. Intrusive bastards.
