Welcome to Enshittification

A community for everyone who misspelt it as enshitification.

"I the onceler felt sad as I watched them all go, but business is business and business must grow, regardless of crummies in tummies you know."

This is your space to document the decay, demise, and destruction of the tech world as we know it. Share stories, articles, and firsthand experiences that capture the ongoing decline of once-celebrated platforms, services, and companies in the late stage capitalist landscape.

From monopolistic corporate shifts to anti-user updates and the relentless pursuit of profit over quality—if it’s broken, bloated, or just plain bad, it belongs here. We’re here to spotlight the moves that make the tech world worse, one piece of enshittification at a time.

Even pirating media from Paramount isn’t worth it. The bigger the audience their media finds, the greater space it takes up in the cultural mindshare, regardless of whether or not it was paid for.

The only answer is to treat the media produced by fascists and their enablers as material as toxic as their politics. Nothing of value is here, what is here is dangerous and repulsive to us, it is best left shunned and undisturbed, etc.

There is no shortage of independent creators making terrific work who are starving for an audience.

No PC. only access to the internet is through iOS.

Seek ye "FMHY" via yer local search engine, mate - they got Web sites you can use.

Are there not torrent clients on iOS?

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Either way, I’m not watching TV on my phone.

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

So my process on android is torrent direct to phone then cast/UPnP to TV

Try a seedbox. You can even use them to stream your downloads. I download torrents all the time on iOS with one

I just don’t have it in me to learn all this stuff just to watch TV. It sucks the way it is. But at least I don’t have to try and understand a whole new technology just to get it to work right.

You can have it standing up within 30 minutes and $15/month. Nothing to learn, it’s all web apps.

Whatbox.ca. Load plex/jellyfin, a torrent client, and sonarr. Honestly, it’s not hard.

I can pay less than that and not have ads on the app. This is barely a lateral move.

Because I’m not giving money to someone because they think annoying me is the only way to get it. We don’t reward bad behavior where I’m from.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

To be clear, I’m not suggesting you pay them. I’m suggesting you either live with ads or do something about it.

The $15/month seedbox gets you anything, not just what’s on Paramount.

Then there’s the VPN, and by the time it’s all set up, it’s costing as much as just paying for add free. Either way- you’re paying someone.

I don’t even mod a few ads. It’s got to make money somehow. But the amount is absurd.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

You don’t need a VPN with a seedbox.
