His dad is the reason some jobs pay as little as 15$/hr. Those O&G companies lobby the GOP that prevents livable wages and increases inequalities.

We're way past needing $15/hr. Should be $20/hr minimum, and really more like $25/hr.

I knew a guy like this.

He stayed on the pills and got the job anyway

What a coincidence. My uncle gave me a job at his oil drilling company as long as I agreed to stay ON my pills.

He also gave a fresh college graduate a job there as long as she agreed to stay on the pill.

My uncle is a bad person

Tell your dad I promise to stay off Quaaludes as long as I get a job!

That's some nice Poe's law there.

Reminds me of my very first job and the addict son who replaced our floor manager.

$15/hr is only $31k/yr before taxes

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes, we should be somewhere around $30/hour for a living wage now. Of course this will vary by area.

I think the point is it does not equal to the 150k from the post

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ah yes, that is also very correct.

[–] caurvo@aussie.zone 2 points 2 days ago

If you "work" for 8760 hours a year it nets out $130k. So not too far off assuming you are on the clock 24/7 with no actual job!

I want the pills and the money.

[–] hamsamrich@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’d rather keep taking the pills!

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You say you stop taking the pills, but keep on them, of course.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

You’ve now got the money to fund it, I don’t see another path.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago

That's how you negotiate a raise

No pills, but no limits on liquid or powder , loophole.
