I hope everyone has added this to their file about Jeff Bezos

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell attend his private, invitation-only, weekend at a resort he rented out. Bezos also has numerous private dinners with Epstein. They were good friends.

Fuck off, you buy one marital aid and you get this shit

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (1 children)

I just checked mine. It says “probably has a dog”, “probably has workshop”, “probably has outdoor space”, prefers organic, and I have 6 hobbies. Gardening, backpacking, mountaineering, swimming, professional jewelry making and painting lol. I’m adhd. I’m not a mountaineer I just had to buy ice axes and microspikes last minute for a backpacking trip because the snow didn’t melt before our permit date. I mean we did scale mountains in the snow so I guess im a mountaineer now. I try to buy as little as possible from Amazon.

Everyone getting mad that they made a profile about you, but nobody acknowledging that you can edit the info and make them believe crazy things about you.

Heh. Just logged in to my Amazon account (which I seldom use) and it's got nothing on me.. which is JUST how I like it! Guess ticking all the privacy and security settings and using ad-blockers and a super edited hosts file (Dan Pollock's - for decades now..) and using throwaway email accounts for all of this shit is working!

Niiiice.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 87 points 1 day ago

Funny that it knows this, yet chooses to ignore it.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 day ago (13 children)

Sorta thought this thread would be full of people saying "I dont even have an Amazon account". Makes me sad.

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 1 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

I had it from a few years ago since i quit prime and my about me says they don't have info on me so that's good for me

I haven't even got that page on the UK site. Looking at things they recommend I buy, I see the usual collection of things I bought once years ago, and completely random shit that I'd never be interested in in a million years. All that data collected, for what? How these people are worth trillions I'll never know.

[–] Surp@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

How do you get to this page

[–] AnimalsDream@slrpnk.net 2 points 21 hours ago

I was just looking at mine today. Systematically?

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

The one that got me was "probably has a husband who doesn't like lotion"

I always figured Amazon knew the most about me because what you buy probably says more about you than what you search. Like Google may think I'm a raving lunatic but Amazon knows I am a householder and what I use. So I was honestly pretty relieved most of it was very general except that oddball example above.

[–] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 11 points 1 day ago

I've gone through and deleted everything as a matter of principle.

What a judgemental slop.

Favors wired over wireless audio. Browses audio and devices department. Repeatedly replaces budget earbuds rather than upgrading. Strongly prefers budget-tier audio products

Also holy shit it's so wrong on rest.

Why are so many of you still shopping with Amazon? Genuinely I do not understand it.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 55 points 1 day ago (23 children)

Because Amazon wiped out what Walmart and other big box stores didn’t kill in the first round. Sometimes there’s literally no place else to get what I need, not even order it in to a local store. On top of that, Google search for products is so wrecked that the choices it returns are amazon links, or links to websites that also provide amazon links to the same products. It’s fucked up.

(FWIW I do buy local or direct from businesses other than Amazon when possible, but it’s simply not possible all the time)

Why do you think people buy from a monopoly?

load more comments (2 replies)
[–] dreamkeeper@literature.cafe 9 points 1 day ago

I only buy things from Amazon I can't get anywhere else, like the deodorant I use. Unfortunately they've become a monopoly in many respects

I was expecting to be horrified but mine actually made me feel pretty good lol

I prefer Anker USB devices, I grow plants as a hobby, and I consistently maintain dog supplies!

The only thing it got wrong is it thinks I have kids. But I guess I only really use amazon to get stuff for my dog and my sister's kids so that's no surprise

This is WAY off, I play bass.

Mine thinks I keep impulsively buying stuff to maintain an organized workshop because I manage to keep an organized workshop, when the reality is it's full of half-finished organization projects cluttering up the whole space.

If someone wants to generate a database of Lemmy users preference, this comment section is a much cheaper way than setting up an entire company like Amazon.

Hahahaha... now I'm kind of sad I deleted my account after Amazon kept trying to scam me by offering me free Amazon prime. They would give me a month free, then like 10 days, then only like 3 days, hoping I would forget and have to be charged for it. When they finally caught me out, I just told them to fuck off and deleted my account. Never liked their other predatory practices, like how they would plagiarise and sell existing products for dirt cheap and label them Amazon Basics... And then when companies would go out of business. They would bring up the prices. I guess you don't get that wealthy without stepping on a lot of people.

“Systematically building electronics laboratory.”

That’s so much nicer than saying I’m constantly trying and failing at my hobbies as I realize how little I know and how ill prepared I am for my ambitions.

[–] criscodisco@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah I was going to say. My AuDHD has my profile looking like I’m the most interesting person on earth. They don’t know that I’m just always planning to take up hobbies, and not really diving in fully on any of them. Always planning, never doing :(

[–] Monument@piefed.world 1 points 30 minutes ago

I have a friend that is always trying to convince me to join the local makerspace, but they don’t understand that means I would then also have to leave my house and look like an idiot in front of strangers.

It would probably save me a lot of money, but… Now I own a desktop CNC. It’s still in the box, but I own one!

"Likely lives in City, State"

Birch you ship everything I've ever ordered to the same address. Best you can do is "likely"?
