Reminds me of when I was in daycare and one of the workers watching over us when we were playing outside asked me what my favorite TV show was.

I said Seinfeld and he got a very concerned look on his face. He had to ask some follow-up questions to determine I didn't really understand what was going on and I just enjoyed the vibes of Kramer being goofy and George freaking out.

I have to assume it was like 1am and the programming block was on Nick At Night.

I used to watch Get Smart, F Troop, Bonanza, and Gilligan's Island on Nick At Night growing up. I know at some point they started showing Sienfeld and Friends and Will and Grace on it after I grew up. I wouldn't be surprised if shit like Modern Family or Big Bang Theory was played on Nick At Night these days. Or at least all the stuff that used to be on TGIF like Family Matters and Step by Step.

Get Smart, Dick van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, Green Acre, Mr Ed

I think I saw TOS Star Trek on there, too, in high school.

I swear, 4chan's creativity with Pepe is 50% of it's appeal.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 8 points 11 hours ago

It's like 95% of the appeal to me

My dad likes putting on Looney Tunes for our pet rabbits when they go to sleep at night. I jokingly suggested it to my mom and then she started doing it. After Mom passed dad kept it up.

Nick at Night is now Seinfeld reruns. Ugh, I feel old.

[–] Odo@lemmy.world 27 points 16 hours ago

They show Big Bang Theory reruns now. That ended 7 years ago.

Channel Drift ruins everything.

Didn't they have Fresh Prince recently too? I guess it was just a matter of time.

[–] lessthanluigi@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Recently? I remember watching Fresh Prince as a kid on Nick at Night

[–] musubibreakfast@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I remember sitting down with my family to watch a new episode of Fresh Prince.

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 hours ago (3 children)

Has it been that long?

Also, I meant recently as in the last decade. When I was a kid, Nick at Nite was stuff like I Love Lucy and Bewitched. Yes, I'm old.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

Wonder if they're still showing Mr. Ed

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

IDK when you grew up, but I was born in the late 80s and saw both as a kid on Nick @ Nite. I Love Lucy in the 90s, Fresh Prince in the 2000s.

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Born in the early 80s. I don't remember Fresh Prince on there as a kid, I watched it when it was airing on its first run.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I was 2-years-old when Fresh Prince first aired, which explains your perspective. The show wasn't relevant to my tastes until I saw it as a teenager in the 2000s.

I don't know why Nick @ Nite skipped several decades of television, going straight from 50s and 60s shows in the 80s & 90s to 90s shows in the 2000s, but it worked out for my childhood enjoyment so I'm not complaining. It would also help explain why I'm not really into 70s and 80s culture at all.

It's cause Viacom does not want you to know about how good Norman Lear sitcoms were (All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, Good Times, Sandford and Son, etc.). Going from those to whatever the 80's had on really makes you think that Regan ruined everything.

[–] lessthanluigi@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 11 hours ago

I haven't really watched it since like 2010 tho

[–] reader@lemmy.zip 16 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

fake: anon left house

gay: anon watches Seinfeld

[–] jxk@sh.itjust.works 13 points 15 hours ago

Not that there's anything wrong with that

[–] lessthanluigi@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Anon turns on the TV at 10pm

[–] homik@slrpnk.net 4 points 18 hours ago

Liike it's 1999.

[–] ThatGuyNamedZeus@feddit.org 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I have the TV on for my pets too.

I like to find old sitcoms for them to watch, or family guy, bob's burgers and king of the hill, but not the simpsons

[–] lessthanluigi@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

According to your username and the nature of being on Lemmy, I can only guess you use IPTV

[–] ThatGuyNamedZeus@feddit.org 2 points 3 hours ago

Shhh! Don't tell people about it!
