From National Aviary

SLAY queen! ๐Ÿซ…

Like vultures, Southern Bald Ibises also have bald heads to help with hygiene! They primarily feed on insects and small invertebrates, which they often have to sift through dirt and soil to find. The "bald is beautiful" look helps keep their heads clean, as feathers more easily trap dirt and bacteria.

The National Aviary in Pittsburgh is a good time. These goobers seemed to be curious as they walked among the other visitors.

The Andean Condors were another highlight. One was carrying a large, blue plastic decoration and kept trying to hop on a rock while holding it in their talons.

Those condors were so impressive to see up close!

My wife and I held Cedar the Screech Owl. We were there the week the Eagle owls had babies too, but we didn't get to see them, as they were just hatched.

Fun place!

Oh, I went looking for the owl photos and I saw I did capture one of these guys roaming around!

Here's my wife holding little Cedar.

The Burrowing Owl gave me the dirtiest look ever when I snuck up and caught it outside its burrow too! I will never forget it! ๐Ÿ˜
