I knew this little one would speak to many of you. 😁

Oh wow, you're not kidding about it being popular. That page of add ons went on forever!

Very cool, and your design looks great as well.

I only have my faithful Ontario Rat, but we're practically inseparable!

I like seeing them have some fun instead of all that serious business they're always going on with. Take a break and splash around! Shake off those lice. Eat a juicy frog. You've earned it!

This year has been tough mentally, but I've at least managed to maintain overall stability, and thankfully my wife has done very well this year considering we lost both her parents in the last two years.

I don't know where you're or what work you do, but I'm at a huge pharmaceutical company, so they hire damn near every kind of job since we're basically self contained. I'm a nobody so my name won't open doors, but I can always watch postings if you are able to get up to KOP or Collegeville. Like I said before, PM me if you ever need to.

We can only make things better if we're looking out for each other.

I don't know much about their behavior in groups. That would be a good subject to explore, as it's not very typical owl behavior. I would think someone has to have written something. I'll have to try to remember this.

I recall I bookmarked a bunch of stuff on the city that seems to be the big hub of European LEOs. I think I was waiting until closer to the time it actually happened but then I forgot 😁

Visiting France would be fun! With or without owls. Lots of great food and history, and all the French people I meet on here have been wonderful. I will keep you and the willow tree of owls in mind!

Wait... I was not aware of this Mogwai.

Can we not get Scottish people wet or feed them after midnight?

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Very cool! LEO is one of my favs, but I have yet to see a live one.

They are one of the more social species, as you saw, where they don't mind roosting together.

I keep meaning to do a post on this small Serbian town that gets taken over by them every year and they can have over 100 in a single tree. It must be amazing!

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

You are not alone! It took me a while to separate the 2 in my head as well. 😂

Blood products are the 9th largest export of the US, making up over 2.6% of products.

Canadian Press

According to Canadian Blood Services, the demand for immunoglobulin is rising every year, but 70 per cent of Canada's supply comes from international sources - mostly the U.S.

Although there is no current shortage of immunoglobulin in Canada, the current political climate of protectionism in the U.S., coupled with the "dramatic" demand projected to increase about 10 per cent each year, could put the supply at risk, said Dr. Graham Sher, CEO of Canadian Blood Services.

Medical products are also Canada's 9th highest import from the US, to the amount of almost 6 billion dollars in 2024.

Trading Economics

Medical devices are also a huge US to Canada sector.

Trade.gov

The Canadian market presents significant opportunities for U.S. exporters of medical devices, with the United States being Canada's largest trading partner for this sector. Total imports of medical devices satisfy approximately 70% of domestic demand. In 2022, the United States was the largest exporter of medical devices into the Canadian market, totaling US$3.2 billion, representing 42.6% imports in this sector.

The Flammulated Owl is one of North America's most secretive nocturnal owl species!

This species is the smallest owl in my region of the PNW. They are primarily insectivores and do not have the adaption of silent flight that most owl species have evolved. In spring months, they migrate all the way from wintering grounds in Mexico to as far north as British Columbia, Canada!

These photos of two females individuals in hand help show their size!

Here is one of our recent patients, a Barn Owl! After a full examination, we determined it was ready to return to the wild. It has now been successfully released! Ever notice that a Barn Owl's face is shaped like an apple when you look at it straight on? Profile photo gives a whole different view.

Who dares to disturb my daytime slumber? Those little Northern Pygmy Owls are known for their perpetually grumpy expressions! Their facial markings and big, round eyes make them look like they are scowling, but they are actually super cute!

These little guys are Woodfords Owls and we've not had this species here (certainly since I've been here anyway). There are actually 4 of them that all live together and have just had a quick beak trim and check over before they head in to the quarantine aviaries for a few weeks.

They are cute little species that always look permanently surprised with their massive eyes.

AKA: African wood owl (Strix woodfordii)

We haven't talked about these guys here much before, so these will be new to many of you.
