Welcome to the largest gaming community on Lemmy! Discussion for all kinds of games. Video games, tabletop games, card games etc.

Rules

1. Submissions have to be related to games

Video games, tabletop, or otherwise. Posts not related to games will be deleted.

This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.

This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

The bar is really low..

Atleast a new Hideo Kojima game should be coming soon...

I can't imagine any reason to watch or play a game about american superheroes. Cringe asf.

I mean, if you care that much about character or story in an action game, it's probably a good idea not to pick it up to begin with, yeah.

The genre typically has bad to mediocre stories because the selling point is the gameplay anyway.

Yes, because has Sony released so many successful first party games in 2026...

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 41 points 22 hours ago (5 children)

Lol I had to double check because I couldn't remember any.

We got...

  • Marathon
  • Saros
  • MLB The Show 26
  • Marvel Tōken: fighting souls

And this.

[–] OrgunDonor@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Is Tokon classed as a first party? Isnt it technically a second party game, because it is developed by Arc who arent owned by Sony, but published by Sony?

[–] AdamBomb@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

😬 How the mighty have fallen since the PS2 days

[–] BreakerSwitch@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

This did better than Tokon? That makes me pretty sad

[–] DPEWGF@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 hours ago

Tokon launch has been a bumpy road & fighting games don't sell like Sony Marvel IPs

[–] mursejoy@lemmy.zip 9 points 17 hours ago (6 children)

Literally no reason to open a PS5 in the big 26’

Well it is a game for idiots

[–] ryper@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Idiots will pre-order anything. There were probably a lot of sales before the controversy even started.

Seems like an alright $5 buy down the road.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

It's single player. I'll pirate it and share it on soulseek for the world.

Emulators and time

[–] THE_GR8_MIKE@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Hey that also works for me. I haven't pirated a new game in years and have been itching to give it a go again to see how it is now. It being the piracy process of a new game in the modern day lol

[–] IEatDaFeesh@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Gotta save your money for the Stream Frame brudda. Every dollar counts 💀

[–] nforminvasion@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Natanael@infosec.pub 2 points 7 hours ago

Use the steam frame to pretend you have a home lab

[–] Coelacanth@aggregatet.org 10 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not convinced it's even worth my time, much less money.

[–] Datz@szmer.info 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, comparing to "no game is worth $60", it is no better to buy a $5 game that will leave you unfazed for 15 hours. That just sounds like being a VG junkie.

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

For an example, I picked up Duke Nukem Forever for $5 knowing the reviews weren't great and still felt ripped off.

It’s so bad that it’s good in the end
