The lowercase l is a major failure of the alphabet. Sans serif font makes it worse but having l and I matching was a mistake.

And don’t forget about |!

[–] thomas@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 hours ago

That was not a problem when people wrote in cursive. I think this flaw is to be blamed on the printing press.

Lamo caught.

Yesterday a guy did the spongebob sarcasm capitalization on “wall of text” and wrote “Fine, I’ll summarize the scary ‘wAlL oF tExT’ for everyone.”

And just, damn. “wail of text” really summarizes nicely how I feel about long, padded articles with tons of popup and banner ads, along with “disable your adblocker” and robot verification tests.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

I had to laugh. Some ad executive has a genius for hopping on bandwagons. when public opinion finally swings away from AI, any product without aluminum can claim “No Al”

[–] Varesti@lemmy.zip 104 points 15 hours ago (6 children)

Every guy named Al in shambles right now.

[–] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago

Especially Weird Al Yankovic

[–] Jesusaurus@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

We literally kicked someone from a call yesterday because his name just showed up as "Al" instead of his full name

[–] squirrel@cake.kobel.fyi 28 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

What did Al generate now!?

[–] Cavemanfreak@programming.dev 1 points 4 hours ago

Haha. I just saw a clip of a younger teenage girl telling her father of this new trend of Weird A.I. that was making parodies of songs, and showed him the song Fat.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 12 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Al generated a massive income to support actions to help homeless people and stop new AI datacenters from being built in nature perserves.

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

He sounds like a bona fide hero, TBH. There's gotta be more like him out there, fighting bravely against other AIs for the rest of humanity, surely.

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 6 points 12 hours ago

Unfortunate though he chose to target a rival Al's data centres instead of focusing on the important fight against Artificial intelligence

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 7 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

I know a guy who changed his name to Allan because of how prevalent the topic of AI was getting in his messages

It’s not even pure Al, but a ‘Weird’ combination alloy.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 17 points 11 hours ago

A 'Weird Al', if you will.

[–] lemmyman@lemmy.world 24 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I'll be That Guy and say that essentially every structural piece of aluminum in the world is an aluminum alloy. Pure aluminum is very soft and more difficult to manufacture into usable parts.

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 9 points 12 hours ago (3 children)

But pureer = gooder and less pureer = badder!?!!?

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 hours ago

purer* 😜

[–] Redjard@reddthat.com 2 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Would you care for some pure stainless steel?

[–] TheJesusaurus@piefed.ca 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Gross, you mean that MIGHTY PURE IRON that some dweeb infected with carbon

[–] Redjard@reddthat.com 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

You are thinking of regular steel. Stainless steel may not even have any iron or carbon, so don't worry.
My product is 99.999% pure stainless steel by weight.

You can but it doesn't suit itself for heat treatment, so don't expect results.

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 hours ago

Oh, there'll be results, for sure. 😅

[–] Droechai@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

But aluminium puree is really weird to build with

TBF, Al might actually be a reason not to buy it in the unlikely case a similar one made of Cu was also available, as this one would have a higher thermal conductivity (and also more style!).

See it as an investment in a non-volatile, hard-backed asset.
Will get you through another day when you sell the raw metal after you lost all your other life savings during the AI stock market crash!

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 hours ago

And to think, the stonks were defeated by just one guy. 🤯
