No one who's ever heard music before asks this in good faith. It's a physical impossibility.
Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
😇 Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
🏘️ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
🧬 Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
📋 Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
📬 Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.
-
🏴☠️ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

🍿 Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Don't you hate when Rise Against the Machine gets political?
Same level of media literacy that missed the satire of the Starship Troopers movie.
Watching the US Government unironically propose Starship Troopers-inspired uniforms for the Space Force had me in stitches.

You'd have to be some kind of American Idiot to miss the messages.
The Message must have been lost on these people Born in the USA it's a shame that The Revolution Will not be Televised because it might make it more obvious, but That's Just the Way it is.
Laughs in System of a Down
Prison song, BYOB (bring your own bombs), BOOM, Deer Dance, PLUCK, Holy Mountains, Protect the Land … a few of which were used to directly raise funds to support victims of an Armenian genocide ..
Rage Against the Machine but not like in a political way or anything, just like, noises and anger and centrism
You won't believe the amount of right wingers who believe RATM are right wing. I assume because they sound angry?
"Fuck you I won't do what you tell me" is kind of universal, but you'd think "Some of those who work forces are the same who burn crosses" would have been a hint towards which side they lean towards.
This is not even a strawman. I seen people on reddit argue "art is supposed to just be fun, not push any ideologies."
It's a conservative identifier for me. I haven't seen an example that was't complaining about progressive political stances in some medium.
I wasn't there either but it's still the first one that comes to mind.

Elvis broke segregation laws.
The Beatles refused to play if the audiences were segregated.
you know what I miss that we used to do a lot of?
punching the fuck out of racist sexist piece of shit nazis.
that should make a comeback.
Michael Jackson is arguably the most famous musician ever, or at least VERY close and a lot of his music is explicitly political, “they don’t really care about us” comes to mind, I think “man in the mirror” also qualifies, I know other stuff he’s done definitely does too I’m just not a big MJ head, I know the guy is problematic but it’s obtuse to claim musicians are just getting political now when arguably the biggest musician of all time was very political in his own right decades ago.
Agreed about They don't really care about us, but Man in the Mirror is more personal. Black or White has a certain political slant, and Earth Song has a very direct message.
Let's look at some other musicians who might have a claim to "most famous ever": Elvis was not really political - if anything he was pro-establishment.
Mozart and Beethoven however were very political. Beethoven scratched out the dedication to Napoleon in the Eroica when Napoleon made himself an emperor. Previously Beethoven had been a major supporter of Napoleon because he was pushing enlightenment ideals. Mozart was less directly political, but The Marriage of Figaro was very subversive at the time (which I know from the movie Amadeus, but apparently that checks out).
The Beatles didn't start out political, but they became more so over time.
Umm like EVERY 60s song. What do they think fortunate son is about?!!! Fucking dense boomers.
Don’t have this issue as much with punk and hardcore music :P
Unfortunately, punk music does have nazi fans, hence the song Nazi Punks Fuck Off
I knew some dudes who were big into punk and hardcore in the early ‘00s. They seemed decent at first, so I hung out with them for about a month before I figured out they were racist neo nazi shitstains. I dropped that group of friends so fucking fast.
Who thinks this? Even The Beatles were political.
Not that I've ever changed a political position because of a musician; I'd rather they not do so, as I don't go to concerts for politics, but musicians don't follow my preferences for some reason.
I'd also rather that they'd not "fade" the end of their song, but they won't listen to me.
Toot toot. Patta pum patta pum.
