Everyone I've ever met had an age which is only one number. Did your age use to be a 3D vector? And now it's... a quaternion?

[–] wieson@feddit.org 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Please don't rotate my age...

Oh man, I miss my past life when my age wasn't yet an octonian.

[–] inari@piefed.zip 27 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Life took a dark turn after 999

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I think they're so old that humans weren't around when they were born

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Did a Djinn post this?

No. The higghest age is 255, beacuse there is age overflow and human turn into being 0 age.

2 makes sense

assuming "age" means years since birth and "numbers" means digits, op would be younger than 8

[–] greyhathero@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I mean it would have to be at least base 4 given the text.

1000₂ = 8₁₀ has 4 digits in base 2
111₂ = 7₁₀ has 3 digits in base 2

[–] charokol@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oof. When I first read this posts my mind was somehow reading “base 2” as “base 10” and I just couldn’t wrap my mind around what I was seeing. Sleep has made everything make sense

[–] zitrone@europe.pub 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i mean base 10 is base 2 if you write the base as base 2

[–] charokol@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Let’s just say that’s what I was thinking

[–] M137@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I read it as days, so 2.73 years. Or months, 83.33 years.

That thing where some mothers say "oh he/she's X days/months old" for kids that are way beyond where that's relevant.

[–] NewDark@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

Oh interesting take. The unit is different but still base 10. That would certainly be the more normal way to think about it...

[–] rants_unnecessarily@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

What?

You mean 1 digit?

[–] Zarobi@aussie.zone 23 points 2 days ago

Guys we found the vampire

I remember the pleasant days of being 509.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 1 day ago

I also fondly remember my life when I was a mere 999 years old.

[–] blockheadjt@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

... in weeks?

So, it stopped being sweet at 19 years?

They said 3 numbers, not 3 digits. So, I am assuming 7, 28 and 36.

[–] kettuli@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Or 627, whichever suits you.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

You a turtle?

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

999 weeks old?
