I don't have Twitter so I can't confirm, but it looks like the mob had determined this was an AI fake. The one time I was considering using xcancel, it's already gone lol

As a Japanese guy, I can attest that the Japanese is unnatural and a quick search does show that the pricing is wrong. Also Saikachi would be an incredibly rare last name (all different ways of writing the kanji ads up to about 1'000 individuals in all of Japan), so it shouldn't be difficult to find her in a quick online search but you can't find anything about her.

fucking hell! its getting harder and harder to find some legit shit!

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Right? Why do they even make fake ones like these? It messes with history. I mean, this particular example might not be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if there were thousands of these made and a history in the future wanted to make a documentation about 90s gaming advertisements, they'd have to sift through a bunch of fakes.

back in the day forging some historical material used to be a research exercise for history students. we had that kind of thing for the press and we had to study how things are written (that was the whole point) and then replicate it using these insights - barely anyone ever got a good grade for these things because it is way harder to do than it seems like - even something from 10 years ago linguistically is another world and something form 1920s or 1930s (or earlier) is straight up parallel universe.

Would be nice if you changed the title to reflect the forgery.

What an amazing gif. I remember watching this as a kid (the cartoon, not the gif) and thinking it was funny. Even better now.

My first experience with it was through the recreation in The Mask movie with Jim Carrey. I only saw the cartoon later in life and then understood the reference.

I like that I can hear it every time I see it

Can we please not post fake slop

[–] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ah fuck these are getting harder shit. How did you know?

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

The left arm behind the console really stands out. AI fundamentally doesn't understand image composition. It knows what to show, but not what to hide or obscure.

[–] BilSabab@lemmy.world 28 points 4 days ago

Idk who Momoko Saikachi is but I'd like to be her friend. Maybe I can help her with an Arch install, I bet she loves Linux too

Only because she hasn't been introduced to lineage os.

I wonder what her favorite editor is. I bet it's Vim.

Wait, wait, is the model actually holding the product in her real hands?

That's so random. They should have just photoshopped it in there, like now

90s were wild for gaming ads. I remember Battlecruiser 3000 AD and Daikatana ads the most.

[–] BilSabab@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (13 children)

Daikatana was gloriously stupid but in retrospect - gotta respect our man Romero - fan patch Daikatana goes hard as fuck.

I only remember 2 games for the Saturn:

Myst, which I later got on PC after renting the Saturn version (the Saturn was also rented), and Dragoon something... It was basically a SHMUP but you rode the back of a dragon and was 3D.

I know I played more than those two, but I don't remember any of 'em.

Panzer Dragoon

[–] OrgunDonor@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Man, so many great games.

Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter, Sega Rally, Daytona USA, Nights, Shining Force 3, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx, House of the dead, Enemy Zero, Virtual On, Panzer Dragoon Saga...

Fuck I had a good childhood

Apparently the symbols on the left are translated to

"absolutely stunning"

Yes you didn't need to point her features out even more Sega

[–] Aedis@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

My Japanese isn't very good, but doesn't it translate better to "overwhelming: the (shock?) of 32-bit CG"? But in that case I'm not sure its talking about the model at all but the features on the Sega Saturn

She’s got that look that says “I’m only doing this for the money so I can actually afford to buy some clothes”.
