back in middle school, everyone was trying to figure out where to find a weapon in goldeneye called the "spyder." turns out the klobb was originally called "spyder" before it was renamed for ken lobb, and lots of sites on the early internet still used the previous names even after the game released, creating a new schoolyard legend.

Gaming was so mysterious back then, and I miss it.

I want to know how Ken feels about having his name on the worst video game gun ever.

My dad used to call that gun the "coffee grinder" because it sounded like one and also did about as much damage.

We called it The Slobb

One of the highlights of childhood was playing multiplayer with Klobbs only.

Slappers only was even better. Trying to aim down well enough to slap the jerk who picked Oddjob to death in a bathroom stall in Facility was an art form.

Fuck that gun I'd be using slaps before a klobb

It was very thoughtful of them to include an airsoft gun as an option though.

Thank you, Ken Lobb.

Temple, pistols only, license to kill, no jaws or odd job, no screen looking!

[–] MIDItheKID@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No License to Kill. There is a handicap modifier that you can set to like +10 or something and it makes it so you die in one hit. That sounds like it's the same thing, but it made it so if you got body armor, you would die in 2 hits, which made the body armor actually worth something.

This is the only way my friends and I would play. Absolute perfect TTK.

And almost none of us in the group needed to screen peek; the spawns were always in a specific order so we could literally hunt you down immediately after your death by simply going to the next spawn point in the cycle.

As the younger brother, I will always screen look against him

[–] FluorideMind@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I'd put you to death if it were up to me.

nothing beats a couple of "dd44 destroyers" as we called em
