Mildly Infuriating

Mate I'm on holiday in South Africa, the amount of invisible death bumps I've seen on 100km/h roads, without warning signs, which can only be taken at 5km/h, are insane. Our rental 4x4 lost 10 years of its suspension life during our 4 weeks trip, while I was lucky the bumps were marked on our navigation app so I could take them slow. And that's calculated without all the pothole terror. The roads here are almost as bad as roads in Belgium while the speed bumps are a hammer to your spine. If you want to start a good business here, open a tire and suspension shop.

I literally couldn't find it until I zoomed in a lot. That's pretty bad.

Speed bumps where I'm from are usually wider and clearly marked, similar to this picture I found online:

Google Maps street view shows it painted yellow in 2023. The town needs to get busy and repaint it.

Seeing all the comments defending the bump is wild. He's coming up to a clear turn, 1. 2, what if someone is driving on that road for the first time? Do they deserve damage to their car for going the fucking speed limit‽

Seriously, all speed bumps need to be visibly painted.

In the book and movie The grapes of wrath the watchman at the camp entrance says of the speed bump: it protects the kids playing in the camp because asking drivers to slow down doesn't work, but after speeding over the bump they never forget.

Yes, once a mighty watering hole for the daring, this archaic entertainment has laid down and breathed its last. Its once bright yellow skin has fallen off over the years, revealing a rotting blemish on the road. Where there was once cheers and laughter surrounding this proud protrusion, now lies a pile of bones and the modern chants of "god damnit! Where did that come from?!"
