Rules (2024-08-30)

  1. This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
  2. No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
  3. Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
  4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
  5. Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
  6. If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
  7. Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
  8. Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
  9. No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
  10. Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.

(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

Posts that link to the following sources will be removed

Unless they're the only sources, please also avoid The Sun, Daily Mail, any "thinktank" type organization, and non-Lemmy social media (incl. Substack). Don't link to Twitter directly, instead use xcancel.com. For Reddit, use old:reddit:com

(Lists may get expanded as necessary.)

Ban lengths, etc.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.

If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the admin that applied the rule (check modlog first to find who was it.)

Trump can't even control his bowels, let alone Iran.

Starting a war with NATO would end the USA right now.

I would buy it but I wouldn't... Wait what's the one on the right??

[–] ZkhqrD5o@lemmy.world 13 points 9 hours ago

Trump always chickens out.

[–] Iusedtobeanalien@lemmy.world 13 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

The military won't invade a NATO member

The residents won't ever be part of the USA

Ronald Lauder of EstΓ©e Lauder wants Greenland https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/15/ronald-lauder-billionaire-donor-donald-trump-ukraine-greenland

Trump needs to be removed before he can pardon his allies

[–] reddit_sux@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Which military, the US military, the trigger happy, war mongering, spineless baby killers.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

He's after their lipstick mines!

[–] joecitizen@piefed.ca 26 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Yanks, can you do something about this guy or what?

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 23 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry. A lot of people thought Harris was just as bad and don't like elections. Also, the quality of marksmanship has gone down significantly.

For a country obsessed with guns everyone is a lousy shot. Unless it’s a school.

[–] Redvenom@retrolemmy.com 16 points 13 hours ago

Not even the US is under control now

[–] chahn.chris@piefed.social 8 points 12 hours ago

Ha no it won’t.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 10 points 12 hours ago

It's embarrassing.

[–] SpatchyIsOnline@lemmy.world 17 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not sure even Trump's bowels will be under his control by the time he leaves office

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

The news says his bowels haven't been under his control within the last few decades.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 23 points 16 hours ago

As a European: fuck off. As a Scandinavian living in Denmark: I hope you die a slow and painful death.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 9 points 4 hours ago

He would be so funny if he wasn't a sex pest and given the key to the diabetes kingdom

[–] Sir_Ious@feddit.org 8 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Credit where credit is due: he's getting a lot of inspiration straight from his diaper.

[–] Lemmchen@feddit.org 89 points 21 hours ago (19 children)

I hope a bullet leaves his head before he leaves office.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 20 points 17 hours ago

I'll settle for just the entry

If I were Greenland, I would go to UN or whoever they're a part of and issue an arrest warrant for Trump for all the war crimes he's committed and for all the war crimes he's blatantly announcing to the public.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 0 points 3 hours ago

But America doesn't have to care about consequences for war crimes and never has, partly due to the EU's efforts.

[–] Sir_Ious@feddit.org 9 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

You wouldn't, for as UN ambassador to Greenland you'd know that the U.S. has never recognised the authority of the ICC and even vowed to use military force against it should it... well, get in the way of the U.S.' lust for war crimes.

[–] Alfredolin@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

That and the fact that Denmark has been the USA's spy over its allies.

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 52 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, right. Like he intends to leave office.

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 14 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Thankfully, Mother Nature gets a vote.

So do randos in Butler PA

[–] GenosseFlosse@feddit.org 1 points 8 hours ago

Maybe we won't know, and he just doesn't show up in public anymore...

[–] A_A@lemmy.world 15 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

"Trump says..." : automatic downvote.

[–] HereIAm@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

Ah yes, let's just ignore the direct threats of occupation from the commander in chief of the world's largest army.
