3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

Arizona recorded the largest drop in enrollment after the bill became law. The legislation tightened eligibility rules for food assistance and increased state screening requirements. State data through May shows that more than 450,000 Arizonans have come off Snap, cutting overall participation within the state in half.

According to the CBPP analysis, children make up a significant portion of those losing benefits, with more than 1 million children across the 19 states studied no longer receiving Snap assistance.

In Louisiana, nearly one in four children receiving Snap benefits lost assistance. Massachusetts and Texas each saw close to one-fifth of children enrolled in the program removed from Snap.

And further below, the cause for the suffering of children:

The report says the steep decline in participation is likely tied in large part to the 2025 Republican reconciliation law, also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which shifted a substantial share of Snap benefit costs to states based on their payment error rates.

They aren't pro life, just pro birth

Anti-choice, anti-freedom.

The old joke is the moment the kid pops out, they’re on their own. Should’ve been born independently wealthy.

[–] bajabound@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

I hope the parents get them boots with straps.

[–] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They aren't pro birth either. They are for women in the kitchen and bedroom only.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

They don't even want women.

They just want fleshlights that can get pregnant and wash the shit out of their underwear. Cause thats all women are to them. Objects.

[–] Krusty@quokk.au 5 points 2 months ago

They like to fuck kids. Let them eat jizz!

“Protect the children” and whatnot

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 41 points 2 months ago (4 children)

If we can't even feed the children, how are we worthy as a nation?

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago

You're not.

Not you, personally, but 'Murica is a fucking disaster and should serve as a warning to the rest of the world

"Loyalty to country always, loyalty to government when it deserves it." ~ Mark Twain

It does not currently deserve it, imo, but help your brothers, friends and neighbors out, my guy.

“The Dow! The Dow…” /ref

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago

You thought we were worthy?

There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. The fertile earth, the straight tree rows, the sturdy trunks, and the ripe fruit. And children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill in the certificate- died of malnutrition- because the food must rot, must be forced to rot. The people come with nets to fish for potatoes in the river, and the guards hold them back; they come in rattling cars to get the dumped oranges, but the kerosene is sprayed. And they stand still and watch the potatoes float by, listen to the screaming pigs being killed in a ditch and covered with quick-lime, watch the mountains of oranges slop down to a putrefying ooze; and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.

Food "benefit". 🤡
Americans are such clowns in their rhetoric. Everything gets twisted.
Food is not a "benefit".

[–] FE80@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Benefit" is one of the less inflammatory descriptions. Republicans typically demonize these programs by referring to them as 'entitlements'.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

The word "entitlement" is one that the cons have loved to weaponize - they make it sound like the people getting entitlements are entitled little brats (or welfare queens, as Ronnie Raygun put it), when it's about the legal framework of those programs.

They love to twist language - see their use of the word "elite" as another great example. People with ungodly amounts of money don't count as elite in their view, but someone that cracks open a book is an elite.

SNAP is a subsidy to the poor and to farmers.

Insofar as it benefits farmers, it's obviously a rural benefit, and it's also advantageous to rural areas on the poor front.

https://frac.org/blog/snaps-critical-role-in-rural-communities-and-the-consequences-of-cuts

One in seven rural households relies on SNAP, compared to one in eight in metropolitan areas.

If were a rural Republican voter and the "rural party" had just gotten a trifecta and promptly proceeded to do this

like, this is theoretically as good as it gets

I'd probably be a little grouchy.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

If the Pedo Party can't fuck kids, they'll starve them. Sounds on brand for those sickos.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 months ago

If you can, donate to your local food bank. We all need to help each other.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

So the bill is working as intended and a 'success' then?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

I think they call this the "Just-world fallacy". The theory being that the poor are poor for a reason, usually their own incompetence or stupidity. And anyone who does possess resources has them because they worked hard and are smart and awesome.

This powers an empathy gap, where the more resources you accrue, the less you feel related to the people around you.

I dont know if its capitalism or basic human nature, but it sure is sad and unjust.

Just as Jesus would have done. I'm pretty sure this was the main thrust of the Sermon on the Mount: "let the little ones go hungry, because we need to punish uppity women, gays, trans, brown people and funnel more money to oligarchs."
