These games never made any sense to me. I have enjoyed several of them, but I've given up trying to find some cohesive semblance of a narrative. I'm older now and I've come to the conclusion that it's just another iteration in the quest for more money.

It doesn't help that there are seemingly dozens of mobile/phone games on every obscure platform, and they are all canon.
I can summarize it rather quickly.
most games
follow 3 categories:
- the heartless experiments [Sora, Riku, & gang]
- events of a shattered past [Terra, Aqua, and Ventus]
- what led up to the first KH (blackhole𖣐)
This “missing link” era was supposed to explain who and what survived that led to the shattered past era AFTER the first KH. How did people from Scala ad Cælum thrive, relearned keyblade magic, etc.. Land of Departure folks would be 5th or seven generations after Missing Link era.
This series is as nebulous as greek mythology, thus comparable to Transformers. A generation forgets or changes what the past said the past was, thus we are here. It is supposed to feel somewhat confusing, because a lot of apocalypses occurred, and people couldn't keep their histories for the next generations.
Nomura just wants to say we are doomed, because we do not keep records well or deceive the future generation, thus we repeat the same mistakes over and over and over again.
Comparing Kingdom Hearts plot to Greek Mythology is an insult to Greeks
Yet there’s 5 generations of missing media, one we are uncovering rn.
My comparison stands: did we as a species kept records of the Olympians correctly, or are the fables whatever the generation found pottery to mean?
Nebulous history exists because we keep the next generation lost or deceived.
Greek mythology is weird, but it's at least coherent
which version, what author?
I have to say as a massive fan of KH who played the open beta for this: it was not fun and I'm glad this is dead. Imagine playing a less fun pokemon go where you run around and mindlessly tap your phone to 'fight heartless' with all the story being locked behind quests that are too challenging to complete without paying microtransactions to make the game easier.
Regardless, the astronaut designs in the trailer are silly as hell. It's chronologically before birth by sleep but the keyblade armor looks more science fictiony then the armour looks in future games. It doesn't make sence.
I hope the resources and the lore (we probably would have been drip fed) on this game go towards KH4.
Kingdom Hearts Footage Really Bizarre
Why? Is it completely hinged?
The second half was pretty expected. society of Bloodborne people going about their workday.
The first half was a different tone completely. Imagine Pragmata suits wandering in darkness, then one of them gets dragged into the abyss like a survival horror movie and impaled on a giant demon. Then he rest of the squad just pulls out keyblades and goes Monster Hunter on the demon.
Before the keyblades came out, I never would have guessed that was a Kingdom Hearts game.
the leaked cutscene mentioned: https://xcancel.com/kijuler/status/2079160850200355294#m
So is that the big castle thing from KH3? I never really played the games aside from the first and third, but I didn't even finish those ones.
Yes. [massive spoiler warning]
The mobile game explains
that during first KH, the refugees went to other worlds to escape. Scala ad Cælum maybe a world in between the limits of KHα, or a world refuguees found.
The camerist tries to open ᚹᛠᛈᚫᛡ’s door until the urgent researcher rushes in the hallway.
The theory is this the second generation of KB wielders took 3+ generations to finally break free from KHα’s darkness, which is past where Destiny Islands & Disney worlds resides.
If we say KH is a blackhole, well Scala ad Cælum is on the event horizon, and Destiny Island & et all are way way past KHα’s gravitational pull.
I cannot tell if this is satire or not.

Based on the 30+ minute video my old roommate had me watch a few years ago, that sounds accurate.
Not the details, but the way it sounds.
Weird nonsense and shoulder belts? I can smell Nomura in the kitchen on this one grinning over the cauldron, I'm inclined to believe it's real based off that alone.
it cut more than I thought😭
I played the first two games at their release on the PS2, but the story got too convoluted and downright silly after that. I lost interest twenty years ago.
