If you click the link icon (next to reply) you get the video instead of the preview image.

Thanks, but I know that already. The app used to play videos simply by tapping the preview image. Tapping the link icon opens the link in my browser to play it, which I'd like to avoid.

Yeah same, i started to notice it today that some video just won't play. Very odd.

Edit: does this one works for you?

It works only when on the main page but it won't work if i go into the post.

Works for me. version 1.0.31, android 17

None of these work for me. I don't think I've seen a direct link to webm or mp4 that worked for me since yesterday.

v 1.0.32 (36), Android 16, One UI 8.5

If that is a video it does not play for me

[โ€“] wendigolibre@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

This one doesn't work for me either. When I tap the image it focuses on the image, but no video controls appear. Like I'm still just looking at a blown-up version of the thumbnail/card version.

I know I'm not helping, but I use boost on android, and both vids play...

You're providing a data point.

Fwiw, these samples are working in Sync on Android, which hasn't seen updates in a long time, so at the very least I'd assume its not the actual video source

Been having this issue for a couple weeks now.

Got really bad in the last few days.

I personally have problems with videos even in browser - cannot unmute them. Does anyone else has this problem?

[โ€“] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I've run into this, but I'm never sure if the video just doesn't have audio data or something...
