Solid joke. Took me a second to

I came to post an image from this scene as well. I see that's been taken care of.
I gotta give the showrunners credit. "Dinner Party" was both the most cringe-inducing episode as well as one of the best of the series. That's really hard to achieve.
Snip snap snip snap
You have no idea the physical toll, that three vasectomies have on a person.
Good afternoon Sir, we're with r/hometheater and we have a warrant for your arrest
ahem c/hometheater here
Got my IMAX ratio TV all ready for it.

unlike most conventional film projectors, the film runs horizontally so that the image width can be greater than the width of the film stock.
Nolan could have filmed in any ratio he wanted. Choosing 4:3 is not a technical constraint. He basically chose the opposite of cinemascope.
It’s the IMAX aspect ratio 1.43:1 to be precise. He just wants to fill the entire screen for the immersion. They still frame the shot as if it’s a 1.85:1 or 2.39:1, for non IMAX theaters, but in IMAX it just doesn’t show black bars on the top and bottom and you get more information and your entire peripheral vision is filled. Most of the on screen action still happens within that framing in the center.

You should watch it in vhs.

I heard the saying "Watching Interstellar on an Apple Watch". I almost want to get an Apple watch JUST to try it
Reminder that he didn't give a fuck about controlling outbreaks of pre vaccine COVID and that he wanted to force people to see Tenet in cinemas.
You know, jam hundreds of people into a closed room for two and a half hours so that you can have super spreader events multiple times a day.
I watched that shit on my phone while sick in bed. Thank you for reminding me that all his films deserve the same treatment.
Brother he's a film director not a politician.
Yea, the wealthy have no power, and therefore, no responsibility.
I mean, fair, but he's not "head of multiple mega corporations with massive political sway" wealthy, he's just "very successful film director for many years" wealthy.
Looking it up, he's worth $250 million, or about 1/3200 the worth of Elon Musk.
He still controlled (heavily influenced) how the film was released. That sort of influence in your own industry is control.
It not only affected the safety of everyone employed own chain (eg. theater workers), is put public safety at risk. The attitude of "well it was not illegal, so it's governments fault, not his." Is part of the problem.
I still think you're over blowing the level the issue.
Following a negotiation between Nolan and Warner Bros. executives, the studio arranged for the film to be released in seventy countries, with a run time of 150 minutes, on August 26,[105][106][107] following preview screenings in Australia and South Korea on August 22 and 23.[108][109] The film opened in select cities in the United States on September 3, gradually expanding in the ensuing weeks.[105] On September 4, it was released in China.[110] The lack of available movies afforded it more screens per multiplex than would otherwise have been possible.[111]

them dates are before the vaccine became available. He drove a bargin as hard as he could, to get as many people to see the film as he could.
Yeah, he's not a politican, but neither was Typhoid Mary.
I've been working my way through it via YouTube Shorts. It honestly doesn't feel as epic as everyone says, to me.

What is this shit with IMAX in The Odyssey etc? Can an American explain us?
If they need a new ratio why they don't make it a new standard?
My CRT TV back then was 4:3 but for some reason it was too square for the modern industry..
First off theres like 4 different versions of IMAX I'm not gonna get into the nitty gritty of each one and just talk about the relevant one. "True" IMAX is a proprietary film standard that needs a specific projector, screen, film, and theater size to be properly displayed. The projectors are no longer manufactured and there are an extremely limited amount of true IMAX theaters in the world like double digits limited. The big draw for IMAX for someone like Nolan and viewers is how much detail on a massive screen you can get. As to why they dont make a new standard theres a meme you can search for that summarizes when you make a new "better" standard it just becomes a standard. 16:9 is afaik a middle ground standard that most industries have settled on. Aspect ratios are a complicated topic with a lot of subjective expression especially in the world of cinema. In my opinion the outrage is a nothing burger cinema is art if Nolan wants to display it a certain way its his prerogative if someone feels that it diminishes the experience for them imo just dont watch it. They can also complain its none of my business what people do I just find it a bit ridiculous to complain about.
the most common type of IMAX nowadays is "just" running two 4k laser digital projectors, overlapping eachother so you get double the pixel density, at a much better contrast, and at 60fps.
Unfortunatly, that's still less than half the resolution of the "old" 70mm horizontal film projector. But it gets rid of the absurd arc-lamp they have in the film projectors, which would be the envy of ww2 searchlight operators.
Watching the Odyssey on the smallest TV you could find on the set Backrooms is really the only way to truly see the film exactly how Nolan originally intended. Unfortunately many of us will have to settle for the profoundly worse experience of going to our local theater or streaming it in our living room.
Nolan would strangle this person with a strip of 70mm film if he saw this poat
The sound better be mono.
2.5” cones in that tv make it sound amazing. Like listening to it through a tin can I imagine
Not good enough, he demands people watch this film on a 70mm screen. So get out your GBA SP.
