As a lifelong Peanuts reader, I was absolutely tickled to see Schulz handling adult situations like this. No 'whomp-whomp' trombone sound from the cartoons, or offsite adults regularly alluded to in the 50's-60's (etc) comics, just ALL ADULTS.

Like, whoa...

And... of course this one ("Woman Boss") was not very nice, altho containing of some humor, perhaps. But really, that could be said about loads of his style, so what am I bitching about, anyway?

Back to the point-- "Hagemeyer" was a test by Schulz in the mid-50's to branch to a different style. There are, if I understand correctly, seven total strips, none of them published. I don't know the intended order whatsoever, but this is my best-effort to post this one in decent quality.

Interesting how much it visually looks like a strip about a grown-up Charlie Brown.

OMG, that could seriously be a strip about CB and the Van Pelts!

That is TOTALLY those three characters in cynical middle-life. oO

Security blanket ... uh... woven in to Linus' work-uniform, perhaps?

I despise living in an era where all the conflict and tension is still there even after the women in positions of authority is almost normalized.

I wish we could all just accept and move on without having to prove which camp we're in but instead every other conversation between men and women in the workplace feels like an interrogation.
