That's one of the things I hate the most- they say they will combat waste, while being the single most wasteful motherfuckers of all time, and people are like "yeah! We hate waste!", but how much is really wasted, and where is that "wasted" money going to go? Back into the pockets of the people? Into improving society for everyone? I don't get that feeling!

And there's a 125 million dollar incentive to cherry pick data that suggests some sort of fraud as DHS wants.

The USA doesn't have laws against collecting people's personal information. Companies have been quietly taking advantage of this for decades.

SSN’s aren’t something that are shared with others that often though. Mostly in banking/credit/medical/legal. Medical and gov probably isn’t allowed to sell that info, so it makes me wonder who is.
Considering the amount of identity fraud in the US, it amazes me that a data broker not only has the info, but is allowed to sell it.
I was once asked for my SSN number for a new phone at the mall. I just stared at the guy until he only asked for the last 4 digits. I still wasn't exactly happy about it, but at least I wasn't speaking the whole number out load at a fucking mall.

Why is ISE involved in election fraud? That isn't their lane.
Because despite its name, ICE is no longer about immigration and customs. The Trump administration (and the people behind Project 2025) have appropriated and expanded it into their own private army, circumventing constitutional law for the purpose of turning the USA into a dictatorship.
This is why you might see people comparing ICE to a modern day Gestapo, and part of why many Americans fear that there will be no more elections.
Why is someone that committed treason and insurrection allowed to be president when it is clearly stated in our constitution it is illegal to do so?
The Constitution is not self-enforcing. With a lawless Supreme Court, a captive congress and an oligarch-controlled media, there are no effective limits on executive dictatorship.

I work through a nonprofit where we have to report the names and addresses of our visitors to the local government which gives us a grant.
Their thinking is they want to know how many people that visit the nonprofit are residents and taxpayers of the local municipality.
Still, it sucks to ask people to give us their name and residential address, even though I tell them this is just for reporting for grants. We don't mail you anything.
I don't think the local government does anything nefarious with this, but they could, I guess.
Does anyone know how to sign up for that? Because I have some people on my mind that I'd like to keep track of. They're all very public figures, should be a breeze, right?
