I've really enjoyed mine and no complaints about /e/os either. Switched from a flagship Samsung as part of an effort to de-google, and the transition has been pretty smooth.

Good to know, I'm a step behind you.

What about banking or other apps, do they work or have the 'doesn't work on this phone' stuff?

[–] SpatchyIsOnline@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I'm on degoogled lineage OS and I have 2 banking apps that both work.

Only thing I miss really is having contactless payments, but I just carry my wallet around again like I used to and use my card

Both my wife and I have FP6s with e/os (I'm technical and love tinkering, she just wants something that works)

We both absolutely love our phones! It just works. Had an issue with one app, for a virtual museum card in our country, only so far that required google services and did not work with mircrog. Everything else from banking to government apps works flawlessly.

Do you know if Android Auto works with /e/os?

I'm using regular android on my fp6, but given everything google does–

I wish there was an easier way to try it out without the need to wipe/move everything.

It works. If you want to not install the required google apps (maps, TTS), you can use this tutorial, worked for me : https://community.e.foundation/t/how-to-run-android-auto-without-google-apps/64578.

You have to install a few google apps to make it work. There's a guide on how to do it.

I haven't tried it myself as I find it counterintuitive to regoogle a degoogled phone, but people in the murena forum report it works.

Still on my fp4, still have ghost touches, still upset about their painfully slow update cycle and their abysmal customer service

[–] mesamunefire@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago

Im seeing an update every month and ive never experienced any ghost touches.

Last update was 4.0-a14-20260610633982-official-FP4 which is 6/10.

I have come to dislike mine. Stock Android bc I couldn't get it with /e/ and my old phone was blowing up. Didn't dare to lose the Google backup.

Weekly freezes requiring hard resets, Bluetooth issues, internet issues, graphical stuttering. I got it for the replaceable battery, but damn, now I don't want it at all.

I've been using iodeOS since release and have had zero issues

I hear good things about /e/OS, too, but the switch is a risky time investment and I don't know if my banking apps will continue to work. I think I'll have to switch an even older phone first, seeing as my Pixel has outgrown its shell.

You can buy a Linux phone from FairPhone?

[–] yessikg@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago

The older Fairphones are supported by Linux, I imagine F6 will get support soon
