My music is so eclectic that im 90% sure the algorithm thinks im actually 5 different people. But Jenna ortege- stellar. Oceans voice- ummet Ozcan. most things by van canto ( Norwegian heavy metal a capella group), but break the silence album especially. Love the new shinedown album. Hans zimmer- like anything of his. Oh and toxic by Britney Spears. I was somehow in the top 0.1% listeners of that song in 2025. And the longest time by Billy Joel.

Nine Inch Nails released a new remix project album a few months ago called Nine Inch Noize. It's with a German DJ called Boys Noize. They fine tuned it during their last tour by playing together, and released it with a couple of live performances at Coachella. You can find the album anywhere you stream music, and here's the concerts if you're curious: https://archive.org/details/nine-inch-noize-live-coachella-archive

Also, been on a lot of Paris Texas lately. They're a rap duo with some heavy guitar usage, and punk/grunge/alt influences. Their most recent releases have been two EPs, of which I generally prefer They Left Me With the Sword. (but They Left Me With A Gun is good too.)

Also? I went back to Flobots too. And a little Czarface.

Okay, for a few months I have had some weirdly specific music stuck in my head:

This

Weird

Set of

Music

It's all from an official Johnny Bravo movie and is the best quality I can find on yt for the first 3 songs. The last one was used both in a separate little episode with that specific animation and in the Johnny Bravo Goes To Bollywood movie credits as well.

I have listened to them so much because my autistic obsession with cartoons won't let me drop this that I am super hooked. Have yet to stop.

Also, I somehow stumbled upon this furry song in Vietnamese that I really like. Couldn't tell you why it randomly floated towards me since I have never really ever talked about Vietnam or know any of their language.

I’ve been keeping The JuJu Orchestra’s album Bossa Nova is not a Crime on repeat for the commute because it matches every speed no matter how much or how little traffic. Plus it sounds like I’m planning a heist to knock over a casino. As for single songs, here a few from my Current Mindlist playlist:

  • Apes of the State - “Plate Glass Apology”
  • LP - “Lost on You”
  • MEUTE - “You and Me”
  • Bear Ghost - “Necromancin’ Dancin’”
  • Leon Bridges - “River”
  • Gogol Bordello - “Wonderlust King”
  • Rainbow Kitten Surprise - “Devil Like Me” or “Painkillers”
  • Billy Bragg & Wilco - “All You Fascists”
  • Baker Boy - “Peacekeeper”
  • The Avalanches - “Because I’m Me”
  • Oscar Peterson - “Hymn to Freedom”
  • Skanga - “Truly, Madly, Deeply”
  • New York Dolls - “We’re All in Love”
  • Shefu - “Chandler Bing”
  • Fanfare Ciocarlia - “Moliendo Cafe”
  • Sondre Lerche (probably) - “Is It Okay if I Call You Mine?”
  • Wingnut Dishwashers Union - “Urine Speaks Louder than Words”
  • Cheap Perfume - “It’s Okay to Punch Nazis”
  • Scary Goldings - “Elegy for an Exit”
  • Big Daddy Kane - “Ain’t No Half-Steppin”
  • Saul Williams - “List of Demands”
  • Abdullah Ibrahim - “Blue Bolero”

Doom Gong!!! A friend introduced me to them and they had a lot of different sounds and ideas, all executed by some very talented musicians. I got hooked on their self-titled album and tracked them to see if they were playing any shows nearby. Luckily i caught them in Philly and they absolutely blew me away! I keep checking to see when i might get another chance, but they're on a European tour for the summer...

I haven't had a band excite me so thoroughly in years. Just amazing stuff ❤️ highly recommend all their albums, and if you want a taste of their live experience, check out "Live at the Whirling Tiger" -- that's a pretty damn good approximation of what i had the pleasure of witnessing. Can't say enough good things about those peeps.

The Gong rings on!!!!

[–] confuser@lemmy.zip 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Has your friend also introduced you to king gizzard and the lizard wizard by chance?

Doom gong and kglw are soooo much fun

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

Lol, yes!!! They have suggested them several times and I've probably heard a little, but it sounds like i need to finally give them a proper listen. Thanks for the recc!!

Listening to Rush to get ready for the concert, I didnt know they had a new album back in 2012 called Clockwork Angels. Its pretty hard rock/prog.

Songs Im listening to

Caravan
The Anarchist
Headlong Flight
The Garden

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Rush are amazing because of the ridiculous longevity AND adapting with the times. Them and King Crimson have gone on for 40+ years and have so many distinct eras that are still incredible albums.

Rush never made an album like Clockwork angels until Clockwork Angels. And it stands shoulder to shoulder with their best albums.

I've been obsessed with Frog since I discovered their album Count Bateman. The song "You Know I'm Down" got me in the door, but call me Bob because I celebrate these guys' entire catalogue!

[–] atomp@piefed.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Alot of The Crane Wives and Amelie Farren recently. Some Poor Man's Poison too.

[–] Ashenlux@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 day ago

I have recently really fallen in love with Em Beihold's music. She had that one big song a couple years ago called "Numb Little Bug" that you might know. She has a lot of songs about dealing with anxiety, depression, and other mental health stuff, among other topics. Her music is hitting just right for me right now.

Handful of my most recent listens are

• the war on women • friendship commanders • black Moth • Herbie Hancock.

So basically lot of rock (fronted by women ) and a jazz piano legend.

I don't have any music subscription service.

I self-host navidrome where I stream musical soundtracks for long drives. Book of Mormon and little shop of horrors are my gotos when I get drowsy.

When doing focused work I stream hypr demoscene radio. I'm a software engineer and demo soundtracks just get me in the zone.

Well my favourite artist is Quadeca, and I've listened to all his songs a million times, especially the albums I didn't mean to haunt you, and Vanisher, horizon scraper, so that's 2 whole albums I can recommend :3
