I’m new here so I wanted to show my latest guitar addition. I play a little bit of everything, but I have a real passion for Sunn stuff and baritone instruments. My wife got me this Gretsch CVT baritone for my birthday this year, and I love it.

I also do a lot of pedal demos for fun, so I’ll probably post some video in the near future as I can.

Nice baritone! What music do you play? And what do you like about Sunn amps? Sunn O))) the band comes to mind.

Thanks! I play lots of stuff, but I really love playing heavier music, country, and experimental music.

Sunn originally got me with the aesthetics, but I think there are some unexplored modern things that can still be done with their gain sounds. I’d much rather pursue those sounds than simply grabbing a 5150 and calling it a day (though I do still want a 5150 someday).

SunnO))) is a great band. I actually discovered them after the amps, so they were a pleasant surprise to me. They’re especially fun to listen to while driving through a thunderstorm.

SunnO))) & thunderstorms go great together

Indeed they do.

J'adore les Gretsch ! J'aime leur son et je les trouve magnifiques . Ton setup doit être un vrai plaisir à jouer !

I don’t speak French well enough to know exactly what you’ve said, but thank you! I’m a big fan of Gretsch baritones as well. This one is the second I’ve had and I’m blown away by how good it has been.

I adore Gretsch. I love their sound and I find them magnificent. Your setup must be a true pleasure to play!

Thank you for your service! I was kind of close. Lol

Thanks for the translation! 😉 That's exactly what I meant.

Lovely stuff! Are those pickups gold foil?

[–] onetimeimetamoose@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Thanks! They aren’t gold foil pickups. Just whatever the stock humbuckers are that they put in the new budget guitars. I’ve never had something with gold foil pickups before, but I would really love to try some out soon.

Such a tiny guitar, about as big as two pedals.

Tap for spoilerI know it's an artifact rectilinear ultra-wide angle lens you used, but looks funny.

Love the gear! I see you've got an Orange Super Crush, I bet it sounds massive through those Sunn cabs.

[–] onetimeimetamoose@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

Thanks! It’s certainly thick sounding.

It's weird that your amps look 2 dimensional.

[–] onetimeimetamoose@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It’s the .5x camera. It was the only way to get a somewhat aesthetic view of my basement. Here’s a more inclusive family photo that I took before I got the Orange head.

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

interesting. anyway, that looks like a sweet set-up. id love to play through it. have fun!

Thanks! If you ever get a chance to grab an Alpha mixer of any kind they’re unbelievable as amps.
