Welcome to /c/SoftwareGore!

This is a community where you can poke fun at nasty software. This community is your go-to destination to look at the most cringe-worthy and facepalm-inducing moments of software gone wrong. Whether it's a user interface that defies all logic, a crash that leaves you in disbelief, silly bugs or glitches that make you go crazy, or an error message that feels like it was written by an unpaid intern, this is the place to see them all!

One time a chat rep requested remote control access so they could help me solve my issue.

They pulled up the chat and pushed the button indicating the problem has been resolved. 😞

It wasn't funny at the time but very funny in retrospect 😄

They did what they told you, you just misunderstood.

I once had a problem with Vodafone. I tried calling customer support but, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, the automated answering machine got me exactly nowhere. It also refused to connect me to an actual human being. So I went to my nearest Vodafone store. They said they aren't allowed to do anything except create a support ticket in my name. I said yes please do that. They said okay, someone will call you soon.

Someone did call me very soon. The lady said she was calling from Vodafone customer support, is this Herrvogel? I said yes this is he. She hung up immediately. The end.

I am convinced Vodaphone is the worst telco in the world. I have horror stories for a lot of other telcos, but Vodaphone takes the cake for how brazenly they fuck you over.

More like "tales from tech support," but from the other end

For some reason this is reminding me of the modder who immediately closed my bug report on their mod just stating the bug I was reporting was impossible to be caused by his mod; even though the issue is resolved upon removing that mod, and only that mod.

(It's the Astral UI mod for Starfield. It adds some controller controls for the new tabs it made in the inventory menus, but this also seems to fuck with being able to control the main menu of the game with a controller. It recognizes button clicks and hides the mouse cursor, but won't engage with the menu at all until I either open the settings menu or hover the mouse over continue)

I had it that way once. I was getting weird behavior with a Minecraft plugin for making plots so I posted the issue to the Github issue tracker. I was told to ask about it in the Discord. When I went there, I was told to post it to the Github. I uninstalled the plugin.

At least they were polite about it.
