And remember, we're going to be forced to go back to paying student loans in three months too!
I was filling up my gas tank the other day and I just stopped because I decided that that was enough money spent on gasoline for the day. The tank wasnt full. I wasnt out of money. I understand that it means i will have to find a gas pump sooner eventually. But, man, it made sense in the moment.
Billionaires: idgara. Now get back to work!
Thanks trump. And all you dumbass sitouts.
The moneybags are just waiting until the depression's in full swing so they can buy up more assets at a dime to the dollar.
Rocket Mortgage had this truly nasty commercial that showed some schlub walking towards his house with three bags of groceries while the voiceover says that it used to be six bags. Then the guy's house starts talking to him, reminding him that he has a tiny bit of equity in the house and he can get a second mortgage to pay for groceries. Then the guy starts dancing happily.
Just astonishing that a corporation can sell borrowing money for food as a good thing. Rocket Mortgage's owner Dan Gilbert also owns my favorite NBA team (Cleveland Cavaliers); I would be happy that they're getting the shit kicked out of them by the Knicks if it weren't for the fact that the Knicks' owner is just as big of a scumbag. At least Gilbert doesn't pretend to be a blues musician.
I’m a single man 43, when Donny was reelected my weekly grocery bill was about $80. As of march my groceries have cost me well over $170 and as of last week it is close to $200. So much winning we might get tired of all the winning.
But have you tried surviving on nothing but dried lentils and rice? Checkmate libruls /s
I had a period when I was young where my grocery budget was $30 per week. That lasted for over two years. Many lentils and much brown rice were consumed. Also tofu, which was extraordinarily cheap back then, and for empty calories, there was ramen. I started a herb garden and ate lots of green leafy vegetables. I invested in some spices, and could buy fish off the boat for next to nothing. I ended that period of poverty fit and healthy, but it was a constant, precarious struggle, the diet was monotonous, and shopping and cooking required considerable effort on top of working fulltime.
I wouldn't like to go back to it, but I could if I had to. Sometime I'll work out how much it'd cost to do that now.
And I dont think the other shoe has dropped yet. It takes time for shocks to wring out of the global transit network. Fertilizer is made from petrol these days, and farmers need to plan its order out months in advance. I fully expect things to get much worse to the point im learning to ferment and preserve things. Its not of urgency now, but having these skills before I may need them seems like a prudent use of time.
Definitely, I’ve seen were a lot of south East Asian countries have stop planting anew rice crop due to fertilizer shortage and without rice that’s like a large percentage of people’s diet. And as for here in freedom land America, I myself live in a very rural part of the country where everything has to be brought in by truck with the rising cost of fuel rule areas as well as most city areas will be suffering hard if you think Covid was bad Wait till the fuel shortages really grinds this country to a stop. Everybody, I work with and have to deal with our hard-core conservative and fully support. Everything that Donnie is doing. All they talk about is how fuel prices are going to be super cheap by the Fourth of July and how they eat steak every meal and how great everything is going to be in this country very soon.
FREEDOM! WINNING! WOO. MURICA!*

So glad that PEDOnald the Pumpkinhead is focused on:
Man, with how dumpy has acted over the last decade, his dick must be fucking microscopic. I don’t know enough about him to say how he acted before 2016, but I’m sure it was still small dick energy
His pannus hangs over it, his little winkie hasn't seen the light of day since the 1970s.
staged like 3 shootings recently, to distract from the epstein files, also now the iran war hasnt been resolved, he needs the press to stop reporting that too.
3-9 is basically distracting the epstein files. something new always comes up about epstein, he needs a distraction again.
Your president doesn’t care.
I used to buy a lot more. The combination of getting laid off and only finding a shit job that pays shit (thanks AI) and inflation are the big factors.
Capitalists can go fuck themselves. If they want people to buy they need to pay us.
I'm hungry a lot. I work part-time in a grocery store. I hate being an American.
i’d steal here and there - the small things
I havent bought beef in a while
Me either I might by a pack of ground beef a week. Where I am it is nearly 6 us dollars a pound which translates to about 12 ish dollars for my family for one meal component. Chicken is not a lot better at around 4 dollars a pound.
The shitty chicken they sell you is at that price??? In Spain we are paying 6ish€/kg. And without bleach.
at one point I kinda wanted to give up pork but its both more affordable and lower on the environmental impact.
Same her. I just swapped out everything to chicken/pork and even pork is climbing in price now. It's fucking ridiculous out there.
Only 61%? My weekly grocery bill has gone from $100 to $150 on average. That's with cutting back by no longer buying snacks or nice cuts of meat.
My weekly grocery bill has gone from $100 to $150 on average.
UK here. There are three adults in our household and together we're paying about £150 per week (about $200). We're not skimping at all. That includes a couple of steaks, fresh salmon, mussels, pork, sometimes lamb.
I never thought the US cost of living would exceed that on this damp island.
It's only 61 percent because 38% have started stealing groceries. The remaining 1% steals from all the others, like it always has.
Buddy is a long term regional manager at a national grocery chain. He told me last weekend "shrinkage" is through the fucking roof. They're shutting down self checkout at multiple locations to stem the tide. Funny enough they can't hire enough cashiers because no one wants to work for $13 an hour. Geeeere I wonder why?
Fuck every republican or other fucking moron who voted for this fat pedophile.
It’s only 61 because the 39 are Trump supporters and won’t admit they’re starving.
"After four years under By-den, I'm dying to own the libs..."
What will be the total effect on the US economy after the Orange Shit Show concludes? On the other hand, does this mean fewer animals will be slaughtered to feed obese AmeriKans?
It won't dent animal food production. It will probably produce more food waste though. The corps will probably remain just as profitable, at the least
The only thing that would dent animal food production in the US is if the billionaires develop a taste for human flesh. It's possible they already have.
Realistically, if all the (actual) social engineers could work to make vegan and vegetarian food more alluring to the public eye (and cheap), it could shift production over time.
So... no eggs?
not that it matters but yeah
I'm once again reminded how happy I am to live in Australia
Your fuel is still cheap in 'Murica, but you insist on owning stupid vehicles
I'd be unlucky if I spent 'Murican$200 a month on groceries (it's just me and my dog), but I eat proper food (no convenience food, nothing from a packet)
It's usually steak, roasted cuts, proper identifiable bits of animals with vegetables, salads etc.
No frozen pizzas or any of the processed shit
And I'm not on a particularly high income or anything
I have never had junk food delivered
I don't think Americans actually understand that they have mostly had a fat lazy life of convenience
As an American who visited Australia recently, I can’t really disagree with you. There’s a lot of good there that we should learn from an implement here, but our culture as Americans is about individuality and winning. People feel like they are free if they can be individuals and win, if not then the propaganda is there that “Dream” is within reach if you only work hard enough.
It’s bullshit, but it’s a pride thing.
It's bizarre to me how simultaneously generous and also unbelievably selfish Americans are (blah blah, not all 'Muricans)
