Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I am currently following the sequel to this comic for the story and not the porn.

Link to the first comic

CW: Snake tiddy

[–] Gormadt@slrpnk.net 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

The snitties do feature quite heavily in the comic that's for sure.

[–] programmer_belch@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Then this link is necessary:

non-mammal mammaries

I guess tiddy always wins over accuracy or they may have an in-universe explanation. I have not read the material.

[–] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

To a degree...? There is actually a in universe logic to the snitties.

I will need to study the material then

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Quite a lot of peen, as well. lol

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

First the story, then the porn

[–] Gormadt@slrpnk.net 8 points 5 days ago

That's the spirit!

I'd be lying if I said I never got sucked into the story before and got distracted in the middle of activities

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 5 days ago

why does this feel like some roman saying

[–] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

[–] Gormadt@slrpnk.net 2 points 5 days ago

A lot of the time, the story is necessary to make the porn work! There's a reason why fanfiction writers use characters from another work instead of inventing new ones for their smut.

And TBH, many porn artists aren't that good at porn, or it's just not the kind of porn I'm into. Depending on the porn-to-story ratio and the quality of the story, I might very well read a smutty work for the story.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I feel like the porn part has to be at least reasonably good though, a good story with bad porn is just annoying because you can't really talk about it with others.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Being able to talk about it is very low on my list of priorities when choosing to read or watch something. Also, there are several possible reasons for why I might not like a porn scene - it might not be well-executed, I might not be into the artist's style, it might focus on fetishes I'm not into, it might even be too unethical - though if it's too unethical to enjoy, the story has to be really good to make up for that.

And I mean, this isn't actually an uncommon problem - sex scenes are part of many popular movies and TV shows, and it seems like quite a few people don't care about those scenes but watch the movie/series anyway. See Game of Thrones, though IMO the sex scenes in GoT tended to be better-integrated from a narrative and stylistic POV than in many other works. You could still talk about GoT with lots of people because it was wildly popular and there was plenty of story to talk about.

[–] Gormadt@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 days ago

I found my people!

The story is what takes it from just "people fucking" to something more!

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Entered for the porn, stuck around for the story, is some of the best praise I can give to some works.

I recently finished reading all 8 books of Home for Horny Monsters by Annabelle Hawthorne, plus the spinoff books, and I can honestly say that they would have been good reads even if all the lewdity was implied instead of explicit.

I quite frankly can't wait for the next book.

[–] chattre@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 5 days ago

aroace, genuinely here for the story :3c

[–] OldSageRick@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I don't know if I should be proud or ashamed to instantly know the artist and the work this panel is
