Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Then there are people who don’t snap pieces off and just bite it across the grooves like some sort of feral creature.

[–] ttyybb@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The correct way is to rotate it 90Β° then enjoy.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You must take a bite from the middle of a hot dog you savage beast.

[–] mybuttnolie@sopuli.xyz 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

everyone knows the correct way to eat a hotdog is to suck the weiner out and eat it first, then lick the ketchup and other fillings, and toss the bread to avoid carbs

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That’s right. I just tell them to put the hot dog in the palm of my hand and pour topping on me so I don’t waste the bread.

[–] Darkenfolk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I just ram a stick through the middle of the hotdog(horizontal ofc) and use the puntured hotdog as a straw for the sauce.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

That’s beautiful really

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I also like to peel an orange and eat it like an apple. Taking a big juicy bite out of three segments at once makes me feel alive.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

You’re an abomination.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Sometimes I eat multiple clementine wedges at once.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Bro, like half the clementine at once, so juicy

Whoa now, let's not get crazy.

[–] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 4 points 2 weeks ago

If not bite, why bite-shaped?

[–] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I feel like with people like these the act of consumption is what they enjoy rather than what they are eating, it's more about how much they can eat in one go

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Like the Mitch Hedberg joke about rice

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You’re supposed to bite into them lengthwise, like bananas or burritos.

Tap for spoiler/s

If it didn't melt and go all sticky at the contact points I would pick up chocolate bars and nibble on them.

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Haha just get the fun size bars

[–] NotEasyBeingGreen@slrpnk.net 40 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

The chocolate brand Tony Chocolonely in the Netherlands has uneven pieces. It's to remind us that the world is unfair.

[–] SirHery@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, i mean who in their right mind would eat one alone. πŸ‘€ In one sitting no less. πŸ«ͺ

[–] Vincent@feddit.nl 7 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly their main downside. Especially that big piece that you just cannot break into smaller pieces.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 21 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Sometimes I bite a Kit Kat like this just to be contrary.

[–] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah WTF, only a psychopath would willingly support NestlΓ©

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 0 points 2 weeks ago

I didn't said I buy Kit Kat.

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Fuck Nestle. Eat Dido from your local Turkish market if you are lucky enough to have one.

[–] elephantium@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait. Kitkat is Nestle?!

Nooooo!

[–] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is this quality chocolate, or like KitKat?

Taste is almost identical, so I would assume "like KitKat" - however I have never spent a second thinking about chocolate quality in chocolate-biscuit-bars.

[–] MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] StillAlive@piefed.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

For eating kitkat.

Fuck nestle.

[–] Nima@leminal.space 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

heyyy buddy lemme just put this reaaaally comfy white jacket on you! it'll keep you safe like its giving you a hug! πŸ˜…

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Everyone likes hugs. Except those that don't.

[–] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 8 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

These are like death bars to me. I can eat a whole jar of nutella, but for some reason whole unprocessed hazelnuts make my throat swell up, go figure.

(I guess I shouldn't complain since nature gifted me pollen allergies on easy mode. I'll never accidentally eat a handful of whole hazelnuts the way someone might accidentally touch a dust fragment particle of shellfish lol)

Probably because there is so little actual hazelnut in nutella anymore, and the hazelnut that is in nutella has been processed with the skins removed. I think Nutella is ~12% hazelnut, so not a lot.

Probably why you are less reactive to one of the two.

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

As someone with pretty severe environmental allergies to dust, pollen, you name it, I'd take that over any food allergy any day.

Now, if allergy shots didn't exist, my story would be very different. I've been getting them for nearly 20 years and they're the only reason I don't have to worry about going outside when I want to.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Interesting. I thought living with tissues in my pocket every moment of the day couldn't be eliminated. I wonder if shots could help me.

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Allergy shots are amazing, I can't reccommend them enough.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Huh, I guess I have to send my doctor a message. Thanks.

So I don't have any allergies to speak of, and I can eat pretty much anything with no heartburn or ill effects--over 40 now, so not a kid, and I do like spicy food. I wonder if I should call a medical research group or something.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Reminds me of a Veritasium video I saw last week about molecular polymorphism. They spent a good 6 minutes talking about the different forms of crystallization of chocolate and how to solidify it back into form V - the shiny one we usually see after unwrapping it.

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ugh, tempering chocolate sucks, at least if you're bad at it lol

[–] Kevlar21@piefed.social 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Lol was going to say I bet that those Choceur bars were the inspiration.
