Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I'll save you a click:

From Politico:

President Donald Trump and the Justice Department have reached a settlement of a $10 billion lawsuit he filed against the IRS over the leaking of his tax returns, ending a case that both perplexed and outraged critics as the president sought to sue the government he runs. Under the deal announced Monday, the Justice Department is setting up a $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” to pay claims to people acting Attorney General Todd Blanche called “victims of lawfare and weaponization.” Blanche did not elaborate on who will be eligible for the compensation, but some people who were convicted of crimes in connection with the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot have already sued the government. The fund, to be overseen by a five-person commission, will process claims through mid-December 2028—about a month before Trump’s term is set to end.

And, of course, the revisionism is ramped up as well.

Under the settlement, Trump also agreed to drop damages claims he filed against the federal government over investigations into his 2016 presidential campaign’s ties to Russia and the court-approved FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago in 2022 as part of a probe into the handling of classified documents, a DOJ statement said. Trump and his family members “will receive a formal apology but no monetary payment or damages of any kind,” the statement said.
The statement was silent about whether the IRS had agreed to waive any past or future claims or to end past or future audits of tax returns filed by Trump, his family or his companies. The department acknowledged that language it released Monday detailing the anti-weaponization fund was only “part of the settlement agreement” resolving Trump’s lawsuit against the IRS.

Clickbait title, with a massively editorialized article. The only thing of substance is the multi-paragraph quote from politico.

Still shit, but nowhere near the hyperbolizing superlative that the article/title frames it as.

Edit: one thing I notice is that since they set the claims process to end in December 2028, that indicates that they know there's at least a possibility they won't be reelected.

Maybe they haven't rigged the elections as much as they want us to believe?

We're tired, boss. The elites designed the world to overwork us to the point of numbness.

We are the United States of Russia.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

Yeah me sick still dragging myself to work, because here we aren't guaranteed sick time. Fuck this country.

More disgusting than the scheme to overthrow the lawful government and conquer the united states under the confederate flag to preserve slavery?

Of course Trump has been a treasonous bastard too, but the writer seems surprisingly okay with enslavement to call this the most disgusting theme in US history.

Can't wait to see this headline again in October or before. This guy is such a piece of absolute shit.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

Y'all still think you're voting this fall?

Cute! look honey, they think they're people!

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 17 points 9 hours ago

No it won't.

He WILL have a worse scheme very soon.

Yeah, yeah. Someone let me know when this cretin suffers one actual negative consequence for ruining literally everything he touches.

[–] Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

You need to spread a message to create action by leftist abandon participating in online digital spaces where messages are spread and then try to create action from nothing. Also when any message begins to propagate there's usually mods that crush it before it takes off.

[–] GalacticSushi@piefed.blahaj.zone 98 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Personally I think the whole child rape club thing was his most disgusting scheme.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 57 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

The killing of the middle school children in Iran is up there too.

[–] jacksilver@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

The pedo stuff is still not "proven" and things like Iran he's still somewhat removed (was it him vs hegseth, was it intentional). The thing with this is it is unabashedly in the open and he's the one directly calling the shots.

Not saying that it makes it better or worse, but there is no whitewashing it. He's directly paying himself and his cronies from taxpayer dollars, he's literally saying it himself.

A witness was going to testify to support the video testimony. Katie Johnson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnib-OORRRo

Also, Virginia Guffrie (sp?) told a reporter about everything in the early 2000s. There is so much proof for these types of allegations, that you would have to have your hands over your eyes to think that there's no proof.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 29 points 16 hours ago (4 children)

We keep saying that, yet he keeps beating it. I’m guessing we’re nowhere close to the bottom yet.

[–] paranoia@feddit.dk 2 points 7 hours ago

Drill baby drill!

[–] A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip 4 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Yeah, this. Haven't journalists learned in the past more-than-a-decade? There's no "surely this time he did [negative_superlative]!" - we said that about the Rocket Boy Debacle in 2017. How harmless and whimsical that seems now.

Keep reporting by all means though. Put it on the pile. A) People need to hear it now and B) they will need it later. For the courts.

This isn't an isolated incident. It's the final sell-out of the USA, profiting a thin crust of fascist rich people.

PS: there's no rock bottom. Well technically there is: the annihilation of the human race. And we're still very, very far away from that. Things can always get worse. And I'm not a doomer.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

You know? The thing nobody tells you about hitting rockbottom is that you don't need to go up from there, you can move horizontally to reach other rockbottom areas. Don't be the lowest on just one point when you can visit the whole rockbottom!

[–] KelvarCherry@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 15 hours ago

There is no "rock bottom"; just increasingly lower and denser extremes of bad. Every time we hit a new layer, it seems like it's as bad as it can be, and then with the weight of how far we've fallen; we're pushed further down.

[–] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Rock bottom is where you stop digging

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 hours ago

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

This entire current era in the US right now is the most disgusting in American History

[–] YoureHotCupCake@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

That's very strange to say with that profile picture.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

Never thought of that and thanks for pointing it out ... my comment was more of the disgust I feel of the current American government right now

[–] Watermark710@piefed.social 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

The USA was founded on genocide and built by slavery. Please, for the love of truth, stop with the hyperbole.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 hours ago

Luckily not 0wrticipwting in either thing right now.

Can't rise up in arms if you have one party banning firearms and the other one arming Nazi thugs.
