Democrats once hailed Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) as the party’s poster child: A plain-spoken, hoodie-wearing populist who appealed not just to those in his party but to independents and even some Republicans.

Lately, though, some Democrats say he’s appealing to Republicans and turning his back on his party with remarks defending Trump and attacking his party over their criticisms of the White House.

As the Pennsylvania senator increasingly clashes with progressives and breaks with his fellow Democrats on a string of issues, some in the party are comparing him to former Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), another Democrat who some in the party say boosted Republicans while hurting his side.

Trump kills it with stroke victims, we know.

It’s telling that the defining event in his political transformation was a serious neurological injury. We’re all apparently one brain bleed away from right-wing authoritarianism. Also, nobody seems surprised that somebody diminished from their former selves will naturally move to the right. Its almost as if that worldview is more suited to people who aren’t accustomed to thinking.

It’s a bit more about difficulty not choosing aggressive responses when you’ve suffered brain damage. Making you very easy to be lured away from collected information. As a stroke is a pretty extreme situation, it’s surprising he wasn’t asked to step down given the seriousness of the injury and the long term mental deficits that come along with it. It can usually take roughly 20 years for a healthy person to come close to a semblance of recovery.

In a Wednesday appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, Fetterman [attempted to] cut into Democratic attacks on Trump’s remarks that he is not focused on the financial situations of Americans while negotiating with the Iranian government, arguing Trump’s comments were “clipped.”

Fuck the Hill for making me add that, moving on,

“He said something that got clipped … saying, ‘I’m not thinking about American people financially,’ but what he really was saying — he did say — is, ‘I’m really thinking that we can’t ever let Iran building a bomb,’” Fetterman told Hannity.

A) He really did say "I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation." He did not ever say "I’m really thinking that we can’t etc." or any other more polished statement you wished he did say. B) If you're really so concerned about putting Trump's comments into full context, Trump said Iran's ability to build a bomb was already "totally obliterated" last year. But you're not, you're not even cherry picking stuff, you're just straight making shit up to make Trump look good because you're a scumbag like that.

He's lumbering his way farther to the right every day.

i think the stroke he suffered before his election really messed him up. he has not been the same since.

I don’t like using labels like DINO and RINO, but if anyone deserved to be called a DINO, it’s Fetterman.

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 1 points 11 hours ago

I'd prefer the label "Here lies John Fetterman, traitor to the United States".
