To distract from Epstein files.
Is that the collection of documents that proves that the sitting president raped children? I've been looking forward to that one! The publisher says it's already out, but all I can find is samples online. Someone needs to tell him that if you release it as a book, it will be the #1 best seller for years to come.
The US will never live down this level of stupidity and callousness.
I feel like it's pretty much our brand? Has been for a while?
The difference is that people are questioning whether they should keep trading in dollars. This is new.
That is a great outcome though. Hopefully the US is so weakened by Trump that the world can know some peace from Americas evilness.
I am hopeful that the people in the US can experience relief. The problem is that people are brought up with silly propaganda like it being the free-est country in the world, the best, etc. It's all very strange and causes cult-like behavior.
Before people trusted us to honor important parts of our commitments. Now people expect the worst from us in nearly everything. We lit an assload of soft power on fire and it will likely contribute to our "downfall" from global hegemon to competing great power. Silver lining is that a lot of the wealth we've skimmed off the top of the global economy for decades will now start going back to our allies and industrially underdeveloped parts of the world held hostage by our dominant military and economic position.
Only people who weren't in agreements with you previously thought that.
Some sure, but not everyone. It took a hit during the Bush years, but the Trump administration has eradicated anyone except lunatic conservatives trying to betray their own country for a taste of power.
That’s what they said during W’s reign, but still we managed to find someone more callous. Unfortunately I don’t think he and his cabal are as stupid as we would like to think they are. W on the other hand…
According to the Constitution, Trump cannot legally declare Venezuela the 51st state without congressional approval or Venezuela’s consent.
There’s that pesky concept again that Trump doesn’t seem to understand, or have, or know about.
"Trump cannot" (and "GOP cannot") is the down-beat in the song of life. It doesn't seem to matter what the law says for right-wingers when they're in power. They will do what they please in the absence of adequate resistance.
Edit: in this case, though, I doubt it's more than another distraction from the Epstein files
Cannot only matters if someone stops them which hasn't been the case thus far
Not only that- the “resistance” only gets shitty and defensive when you point out their failure to resist.
without congressional approval or Venezuela’s consent.
I assume they mean and? Even in a world where Venezuela did agree, you still need Congressional approval.
Or care. Also he’ll do it anyway and nothing will happen. We knew he raped kids in 2016.
there's that pesky concept that this clown ignores laws and norms, and has 2 additional branches of goverment who are dedicated to nothing more than sycophancy to him.
The US government is currently run by calvinball rules.
Well he has been able to do a shit ton without out congressional approval that he wasn't supposed to, no wonder he thinks he get do it without Venezuela's consent as well.
I mean Hawaii’s consent was pretty shaky back in the 50s
The constitution you reference belongs to a fallen nation.
It's ok. Congress doesn't know about it either so he's clear.
Wait, but I thought Canada was going to be 51st state? Or was that Greenland? Or maybe Cuba?? /j
Cries in DC.
You may sit on the Jedi council but we do not grant you the rank of master, now say hello to the latest master Jarjar
Why didn't I think about this? This isn't about resources, or annexation. This is about him being the president who added another state. Something Obama didn't do.
Moron, he could easily make Puerto Rico the 51st state.
PR isn't sitting on vast oil reserves, waiting to be plundered.
Senile old man yells at clouds again...
I bet they would send ice to deport the Venezuelans.
10 IQ idea. MAGA will love it.
The dream of Curtis Yarvin is alive in Venezuela
I never had any interest in visiting the US, now I have actual reasons to never go. Thanks big orange baboon!
That’s what happens if you don’t follow his demands, Canada. Now you got replaced by Venezuela. I am sure this will hurt you.
I'm surprised. Hispanics generally vote Democratic. If Venezuela becomes a state, it will have 2 Senators and many House of Representatives members.
You assume by state he means state and not territory. Because let’s be honest, they wouldn’t get any representation at the federal level.
Look at the title of the post. It says Trump is 'considering' Venezuela as 51st state.
You give him too much credit to understand what statehood means when compared to making it a territory.
He is also only considering it to keep the news focused away from the Epstine files, and everything else he is actually doing.
THey'd get the same representation as Puerto Rico.
AND IF AN ARTIST FROM THERE SINGS AT THE SUPERBOWL WE WILL PLUG OUR EARS AND GO NANANANANANANA I CANT HEAR YOU
Lol, what? Hispanics are highly conservative. Right wing propaganda has been overwhelming on Spanish social media for decades; it makes Fox News look like MSNBC. Latin American culture is absolutely SEEPED with conservative Christianity, with a deep rooted hatred of LGBT and anything that even vaguely reminds them of the word "socialism".
Yet there is no question that over the past three election cycles, Latino voters – Latino men under 40, in particular – have shifted right. That change has benefited GOP candidates, even as the majority of Latinos still voted for Democrats.
However, evidence from general elections in 2025 in places such as New Jersey, New York and Virginia, as well as special elections in 2026, suggest an abrupt correction is underway, with some of the Latino voters who backed Trump now swinging back to the Democrats.
In the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump received 46% of the Latino vote, marking the highest percentage for a Republican candidate in U.S. history.
As you can see, it’s also working out great for the Latino voters.
Propaganda works.
Do it! We need some more states. Let’s crush the Republican control.
