I'm struggling to get what's being a man has to do with this. Why is gender and labels always shoved where it doesn't need to be? It's so weird.
I met all kinds of people who talk like this. This is not exclusive to a type. This is human. The obsession with attaching labels to our humanity is weird and can turn toxic.
Just say humans are simple.
Whats the obsession with not gendering things? There are differences between male and female behavior. Maybe not in this case, but I see a lot of people on Lemmy who wants genders to not be specified at all.
I like having genders. I like our differences. To me its normal. Im not going to change my language. Absolutely not going to say humans when I mean a male or a female.
Because it limits people. Its very often used negatively where xyz bad behavior is stereotyped (just one example of many, women being called bad drivers), and then that leads to negative consequences for them.
This leads to bias meeting people, and the imposition of social norms against certain behaviors.
When you don’t type behavior patterns as part of a group (such as gender), but instead generalize them as typical of humans in general, the mechanism that limits people instantly disappears.
Its not xyz group thats bad, its that people of all types of any group can be bad. Which helps you towards judging people as individuals.
You also lose the ability to understand the world. By removing typing ( I guess its called that?), you turn black and white into gray. You remove differences that are there, and you make the language less specific.
If someone asks you if your baby is a female or a male, you are feeling content saying its a human?
Or if someone asks you if their colleagues will be mostly male or female if they go into nursing, you will say it doesnt matter?
It does matter. Gender matters.

I think some people would like that actually. In Sweden where I live, a new gender neutral word called "hen" has been introduced as "human of unspecified gender", and its encouraged to use that instead of saying him or her, to avoid "bias". Which is what the previous poster talked about.
It's just a way to feel better than someone else, but without having to do anything to actually be better.
I've seen this exact image except the plane was at a completely different angle. At least one of these (and likely both) is a total lie

Kind of yeah. A friend once send me a https://www.flightradar24.com/ link of his plane before he took of, so I could track him coming home. Didn't fly over my house though.
Always wanted to do something like this but you can't send messages on the plane, your phone has to be in flight mode
Lots of planes have in-flight wi-fi these days, so instant messages are fine. Looks like iMessage in the OP, so I’ll rate it as plausible!

Your phone doesn't have to be in flight mode. Its fun to run a GPS speedometer app during takeoff (I've heard).
Not in flight mode, but you can sometimes get a connection during approach when you're low enough. Flight mode really just prevents your phone from wasting energy trying to reach cell towers that aren't in range. It's not like you have to use it.
Also in-flight wifi with satellite interent is becoming more common.
I pretend to put in in flight mode but then I don't.
I have NEVER put my phone on Airplane Mode because Fuck Them.
Wdym fuck em. They kindly ask you to turn your phone into flight mode, likely because it might interfere with the plane's communication system and cause safety problems. What have they done wrong to you, they're just doing their job of providing you a safe flight
It's not going to interfere with the flight. In 35 years of ubiquitous cell phones, and 45,000 flights per day, has a plane crash ever been attributed to one? If a single cell phone could bring down a plane, they'd be totally banned from society.
At the very least, they would hold them until you got off the flight. They search us, X-ray us, frisk us, make us take off shoes, belts, confiscate water, shampoo, etc., but they let every single person on with a trigger to bring down the plane, as long as they promise to put it in airplane mode? Sure, that will stop every terrorist.
Grow up, and don't belong everything they tell you. In fact, don't believe ANYTHING they tell you. Use your Critical a Thinking Skills, and don't ever be afraid to tell some pushy, insistent asshole to fuck all the way off.
People not asserting themselves by rejecting bullshit is what has brought us here.
