Soooooooo.......you just gonna leave out all context? Cool cool cool cool.

[–] tyler@programming.dev 19 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

What context do you need? The numbers don’t add up.

I need to know what's up with the motorcycle.

Like, is it a parking fee?

Is it a stadium and the motorcycle gets a seat?

It's the Fuel & Environmental Surcharge of £7,50 that you conveniently cropped out:

[–] moistclump@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

In OPs defence, it’s kind of typical to have subtotals for only all numbers above. Mildly infuriating to see a subtotal and then have them be like oh yeh here’s what’s also included there after the fact.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 0 points 3 weeks ago

Surcharges are often listed last. But it's still a bit disingenuous to claim that the "math ain't mathing" if the missing charges are right there.

[–] 1stQ@feddit.org 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That's how it looked like on my screen.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Rendering issue then? Yours doesn't show the rounded corners in the bottom so there's definitely supposed to be more there.

[–] 1stQ@feddit.org 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That part is scrollable. I didn't see any corners because gray on gray, (I don't have the best eyes anymore). Just tried to swipe that part of the screen on a hunch (my SO wouldn't have thought of that) and saw it hidden down under the total.

[–] x00z@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Sadly the UK didn't take over much of the consumer laws during its EU membership because it being hidden like that is not allowed.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

but that's not part of the subtotal

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It is part of the subtotal, but for some reason, the screen is showing the subtotal first.

[–] axexrx@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Then its a supertotal.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 29 points 4 weeks ago

That's those pesky hidden fees most places brag they don't have.

[–] 1stQ@feddit.org 19 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Yes. P&O from N. Ireland to Scotland. It doesn't look like it but the fees can be revealed by scrolling below the total. Doesn't look like it's a scrollable part of the website.

[–] Codpiece@feddit.uk 9 points 4 weeks ago

You could say it’s ferry ‘nuff.

[–] atrielienz@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

I just wanted to make sure I understood the context. At first glance I had no idea what was going on. A ferry was the only thing I could think of that made sense.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com -3 points 4 weeks ago

What the fuck did you just call me?

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Damn Europe got $20 motorcycles? Maybe they are better than us.

Well no, it's British, not European

[–] ALiteralCabbage@feddit.uk 1 points 3 weeks ago

Britain is still in Europe last I checked - I don't think we've gone full Noah's Island and fucked off into the north sea on our own tectonic plate yet...

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Isn't vat like 15%? £49 + approx. 15% = £56.50.

[–] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

No, VAT is 20% (except maybe on a few very specific products)

[–] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Apparently, and assuming this is transport, vat would be 0%. Besides fees not shown in the screenshot, I don't know why this doesn't math.

Passenger transport in a vehicle, boat or aircraft that carries not less than 10 passengers 0% VAT Notice 744A

[–] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Ah ok, didn't know that. And yeah, the numbers just don't make sense at all! 😁

1x Motorcycle and 16+ adults?
