Had this idea off and on again for a while now, but this time I happened to be in front of a computer when inspiration struck.

Made with GIMP 3.0.4. Yes, I used the awkward {selection + normal fill + smaller selection + erase fill} method to draw the circle. There was also a bright spot in the image under the text that required a drop shadow.

I need someone to explain what this has to do with Harry Potter. Off by one, too?

Voldemort made 6 horcruxes so his soul would be in 7 pieces.

Diadem, Locket, Goblet, Ring, Diary, and Snek.

Harry was accidentally made into one as well, thus the off by one.

Cache invalidation: The locket was cached but later substituted, resulting in stale information. Furthermore, a layer of indirection would ultimately conceal critical updates to the assumed ownership of a certain principal object.

Naming things: He wanted to live forever, but stuck himself with a name he invented as a teenager, and later banned its pronunciation. Also, another of the principal objects had a highly misleading name that tricked both the one who first received it and others later.

Off by one errors: u/chuckleslord@lemmy.world got it right, the auspicious number was spoilt by careless dilution. Meanwhile, the bearer of the third symbol escaped doom at his pleasure and contributed many an off-by-one (or two, or three) error to the occupancy of various rooms in the future.

I still find it insane that gimp doesn't have something like a circle tool, is it really too much to ask?

Can’t you just use the ellipse selection and do a trace selection?

Edit: Stroke Selection is the proper name

There are many way to do it, but I just want a single-step solution, preferably one where i can then adjust sliders to hone in the look with live preview

Didn't 3.2 add vector tools? I haven't used it yet but I've heard that was one of the new features.

3.2? It took 7 years to get from 2.10 to 3.0, and now they've gotten to 3.2 in just a year? :o
