I had a horrible experience with psychosis earlier this year. The thing I never grasped before is how none of it appears like a hallucination like adventurous people might have experienced in other contexts. The whole thing appears real and totally credible. I had the spotlight effect and had become convinced there was some kind of conspiracy against me where the neighbours had dispatched assassins to my flat.
I seriously doubt someone in the throws of a psychotic episode is able to consent in a meaningful way.
Not all who are committed are experiencing a psychotic episode. Some are simply depressed.
That being said, as someone who has also experienced psychosis and who consented to kids and marriage during... I feel for you
Probably shouldn't have been bringing up my heavy experiences on your light hearted post. Just recently recovered so still marvelling at how thoroughly it messes up your shit.
Just got out myself hahaha trying to stay lighthearted.
P.s. didn't join the club unfortunately
Visiting Nurse Ratchet.
Putting a letter in Nurse Ratchet's inbox.

No one will believe you, so they'll call it "sock therapy."
hey! I remember doing that back in my early teens!
my socks were so stiff you could throw them like ninja stars.
I've been in a mental institution but not a psych ward ... it's highly discouraged "hooking" up and they check in on us often. There's in and out patients but inpatients ... like I was checked up on quite often.
However, I'm trying to the of puns on Zoloft, Bipolar, Depression, Looney Bin, Group Therapy, Nut House...
- Smile High Club?
- Deepression
- A little 1-on-1?
- In and Out Patients?
- Earning A Sponsorship?
Okay, I had a long day at work, I'll try again tomorrow.
- Taking the Zolift!
Hopefully the bar club, as in they are put behind bars. Pretty sure having sex with psych patients wouldn't involve consent, and would involve unequal power dynamics.
Unless you're referring to two pysch patients boning, then I guess you could call it the nut(ty) club.
I assumed two equal patients since the mile high club doesn't require a pilot in the room
That's true. Maybe we're just not privy to what goes on with pilots, it is called the cockpit after all. Maybe that's the true reason why they installed locks on the door.
As a person with some pretty serious mental health issues, this is hilarious. I'm stealing it.
Enjoy friend!
@psychostasia Grippy sock grinders, blue sock brigade, friends of John Harvey (Kellogg)
Most people I know who've been committed (voluntarily or otherwise) call it some variation of a grippy sock vacation.
Grippy sock grinders is genius
grippy socks, grippy box
Can one give consent in a situation when they've mentally decompensated to a point where they are a risk to themselves or those around them and need intervention?
Can two drunk people consent?
idk
between a patient and staff? fuck no, that's rape. but between two patients on the same level? that's probably fine
